Original job description

Con-Test is a Canadian leader in controlled environment testing and certification. Our experienced technicians test and certify cleanrooms, biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, HEPA filtration, and other critical ventilation equipment for universities, hospitals, laboratories, compounding pharmacies, and pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.

Our work supports spaces where protecting people, products, and processes is essential, and where safety, precision, and consistency leave little room for compromise. As a Division of BGE Indoor Air Quality Solutions, Con-Test continues to deliver the reliable service and high standards our customers expect, backed by expanded capabilities and support.

We are searching for someone to join our team in Moncton, New Brunswick or Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada as our next Field Service Technician (Controlled Environments). In this role, you will play a critical part in keeping laboratories, hospitals, pharmaceutical facilities, and research environments safe and compliant through testing and certifying critical equipment. In this role, you will develop skills in advanced diagnostics and direct client engagement through structured, field-based training. This role is ideal for someone who values variety, enjoys travel, and wants to build a technical career with purpose in regulated, high-impact environments. Travel within the region is required for this role.

The day-to-day activities of our Field Service Technician will include:

Service Delivery - Testing and certifying biosafety cabinets, fume hoods, clean benches, and cleanroom environments in accordance with industry and regulatory standards. Perform diagnostics and minor repairs; escalate complex issues when needed.

Collaboration and communication - Collaborate with supervisors, Regional Managers, and internal teams to ensure quality work and satisfied customers. Provide excellent customer service when communicating findings to clients, explaining results, and offering guidance on equipment use and maintenance.

Drive to expand skills and knowledge - Commitment to continuous learning through hands-on training, technical development, and ongoing expansion of skills and certifications.

Commitment to Safety - Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety by maintaining a safe work environment for all team members, conducting hazard assessments, and documenting any incidents or near misses. Travel to client sites across the region using safe driving practices.

The right candidate will demonstrate the following qualifications on their resume and in the phone pre-screen:

Mechanical aptitude with experience using hand tools in previous roles.

Past working knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical wiring, or motor repair is beneficial.

Ability to conduct basic calculations and interpret measurements related to airflow, pressure, and filtration systems.

The understanding of technical documentation, including manufacturer guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, and industry standards including NSF/ANSI, ISO, NEBB etc. is an asset.

During the interview process, we will assess the following behaviors and skills:

Commitment to continual improvement: Demonstrated curiosity, willingness to learn, and active participation in technical training and professional growth opportunities.

Collaborative mindset: A focus on building positive and cooperative relationships.

Safety focused mindset: Understanding and adhering to all safety protocols and procedures and actively seeking ways to improve safety.

Alignment with our core values: Together we are Better, Be the Expert, Striving for Excellence

A successful candidate must be able to pass pre-employment and pre-access drug, cannabis and alcohol tests and maintains a Class 5 driver’s license with a clean 3-year Driver’s Abstract and three years of insured driving history.

What We Offer:

A nationwide business with locations across Canada.

A competitive total compensation package including RSP matching, Health & Dental Benefits, and Flexible Spending Account.

Opportunities for growth in a friendly, cooperative environment.

Time off that supports work / life integration, including Wellness days.

At Con-Test, we represent a diverse workforce and are proud to provide equitable and inclusive opportunities that support belonging. We encourage all applicants who are legally authorized to work in Canada on a permanent basis. Sponsorship is not available for this role.
