SUMMARY
The Events & Communications Intern will support a high-performing Events Team during a peak period of activity, assisting with the planning and execution of a complex portfolio of corporate and charity events. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized individual interested in gaining hands-on experience in event operations, communications, and stakeholder coordination.
- Contract Dates: May to September
- Work Arrangement: at least 2 days a week at the Markham head office (typically Tuesdays and Thursday are anchor days)
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support the delivery of five Charity Golf Tournaments within a five-month period
- Assist with additional events including:
- US Vendor Forum & Innovation Awards Dinner
- Canadian Vendor Forum & Innovation Awards Dinner
- Strategic Partnership Meeting
- Gala Dinner
- Manage event registration processes, including guest tracking and attendee communications
- Assist with invoicing, sponsorship payments, and financial reconciliation
- Coordinate and maintain accurate event data and reporting
- Support development and distribution of marketing and communications materials, including event pages, invitations, confirmations, reminders, and post-event messaging
- Provide general administrative and coordination support to the Events Team
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with event platforms is an asset
- Interest in events, marketing, or communications
- Ability to maintain accuracy and timeliness in high-volume tasks
- Professional communication with sponsors, partners, and attendees
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability
This is a full-time, contract position with a salary range of $19 - $23 per hour. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidateâs competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
