About BHP

At BHP, we believe our purpose goes beyond mining: we work to improve lives and create a more sustainable future. We are a global resources company with operations in more than 90 locations worldwide.

In Canada, our presence is growing with the development of one of the most significant potash projects in the world: Jansen. This project reflects our long-term commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and economic growth.

Come and be part of this success!

About Potash and the Jansen Project

Imagine being part of something truly world-class, something that´s shaping the future of sustainable agriculture and responsible resource development. That´s what the Jansen Potash Project offers.

Located about 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Jansen is set to become one of the largest and most sustainable potash mines in the world. At approximately US$15.3 billion investment, it marks the biggest private investment in Saskatchewan’s history, and a bold step forward for BHP in Canada.

Beyond its scale, Jansen will create lasting value for people and communities. The project is expected to support approximately 5,500 jobs during construction and around 900 permanent roles once production begins.

Whether you´re looking to grow your career, make a meaningful impact, or be part of a legacy project, Jansen could be the place where it all begins.

The Challenge Ahead

As Principal Procurement – Site Engineering, you will play a critical role in supporting the delivery of engineering and sustaining capital initiatives across BHP’s Potash operations. You will provide procurement, contracting, and commercial leadership that enables safe, efficient, and value-focused project execution.

Working closely with engineering, project delivery, operations, and supply chain teams, you will develop and execute sourcing and contracting strategies that balance business objectives, risk management, cost performance, and schedule requirements. This role offers the opportunity to influence commercial outcomes, strengthen supplier partnerships, and contribute to the long-term success of one of the world's most significant mining developments.

As a senior procurement professional, you will bring a strong customer focus and a continuous improvement mindset, helping to identify opportunities that simplify processes, improve contractor performance, and create sustainable value across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

Lead procurement and contracting activities for a diverse portfolio of site engineering and sustaining capital work.
Develop and implement sourcing and contract strategies aligned with operational and project execution objectives.
Manage tendering, evaluation, negotiation, contract award, and contract handover activities.
Provide commercial and contractual guidance to stakeholders on contract administration, variations, claims, and risk management.
Monitor contractor and supplier performance to improve safety, delivery, cost, and commercial outcomes.
Apply end-to-end supply chain thinking to identify efficiencies, drive standardization, and maximize value.
Partner with internal and external stakeholders to build strong commercial relationships and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
Support responsible sourcing practices by considering sustainability, community, human rights, environmental, and climate-related risks across the value chain.
Contribute to a culture of operational excellence through structured problem solving, continuous improvement, and disciplined execution.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

You are an experienced procurement and contracts professional who combines commercial expertise with strong stakeholder engagement skills and a passion for delivering business value.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Significant experience in procurement, contract strategy, sourcing, contract formation, and contract management within complex industrial environments.
Experience supporting sustaining capital, engineering, construction, or major project portfolios.
A strong understanding of commercial risk management and the ability to develop practical, risk-informed solutions.
Well-developed negotiation, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
Experience managing contractor performance and improving commercial, operational, and safety outcomes.
An understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes and how procurement contributes to business performance.
Experience in mining, potash, oil and gas, energy, or other heavy industrial sectors, with exposure to large-scale operations or projects considered an asset.
A continuous improvement mindset, including the application of structured problem-solving techniques to improve processes and eliminate waste.
A commitment to safety, inclusion, ethical business practices, and sustainable value creation.

Work Location

Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

Application Deadline

This posting will be active until 11:59pm CST on October 20, 2026

Why BHP?

With operations worldwide, BHP offers limitless opportunities. Whether it’s competitive benefits, international career pathways, or the chance to be part of a world-class project like Jansen, at BHP you can shape a career that’s truly yours.

We are proud to be recognized as one of Canada´s Top 100 Employers for 2026, a testament of our dedication to fostering a positive, diverse and rewarding work environment.

And so much more!

About Our Process

At BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role. As part of the recruitment process, there are several checks which may be conducted to demonstrate applicants’ suitability for a role including police / criminal background checks, medical, drug and alcohol testing, due diligence checks, right to work checks, and/or reference checks.

We Support a Diverse Workforce

At BHP, we believe diversity makes us stronger. We’re committed to creating a safe, inclusive workplace where everyone is treated fairly and can thrive. This reasonable and justifiable measure has been implemented pursuant to section 56 of The Saskatchewan Human Rights Code, 2018.
