Original job description

About BHP

At BHP, we believe our purpose goes beyond mining: we work to improve lives and create a more sustainable future. We are a global resources company with operations in more than 90 locations worldwide.

In Canada, our presence is growing with the development of one of the most significant potash projects in the world; Jansen. This project reflects our long-term commitment to sustainability, community engagement, and economic growth.

About Potash and the Jansen Project

Imagine being part of something truly world-class, something that’s shaping the future of sustainable agriculture and responsible resource development. That’s what the Jansen Potash Project offers.

Located about 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Jansen is set to become one of the world’s largest potash mines. With a US$15.3 billion investment, it marks the biggest private investment in Saskatchewan’s history, and a bold step forward for BHP in Canada.

But Jansen is more than a mine; it’s a long-term opportunity to build something meaningful. During construction, it will create around 5,500 jobs and once operations are fully ramped up, 900 permanent roles. Whether you're looking to grow your career, contribute to a sustainable future, or be part of a legacy project, Jansen could be the place where it all begins.

Why BHP?

At BHP, we are transforming the way mining is done. We embrace innovation, sustainability, and inclusion to build a smarter, safer, and more human future.

We are proud to be recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers for 2026, a testament to our dedication to fostering a positive, diverse, and rewarding work environment. At BHP, you’ll be part of a team that values safety, integrity, performance, and collaboration.

Work Location

This role will be based at the Jansen Mine Site located in Leroy, SK. The work schedule for this role is 7x7 (alternating rotations of dayshifts/nightshifts).

For those not living locally, BHP provides relocation assistance to the local Jansen area. Alternatively, you can enjoy the convenience and comfort of our onsite camp accommodation at Discovery Lodge during your shifts.

BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.

The Challenge Ahead

Reporting to the Mining System Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Supervisor will be part of the Underground Maintenance team based at the Jansen Site. The selected candidate will effectively help support the assembly and ongoing routine maintenance of continuous boring machines, extensible belts and auxiliary systems related to production mining. Ownership of additional assets will grow as the mine expands.

In this role, you will:

Supervise maintenance department activities and ensure safe work being performed by your direct reports
Ensure direct reports have the necessary tools, training and skillsets required to perform work safely.
Utilize the enterprise Maintenance system (SAP) to assign, track and record maintenance work being performed on Company owned assets.
Create and revise written maintenance work instructions and procedures.
Be able to learn and adhere to applicable BHP company policies and procedures.
Engage in field safety activities (FLEX), risk assessments and toolbox meetings.
Support/maintain BHP Operating System practices which drive continuous improvement.
Engage and participate in all classroom, in-field and on-the-job training.

What You’ll Bring to the Role

An individual who is self-motivated with an aptitude for learning and understanding equipment operation and maintenance.
A person who holds certification as a mechanical engineer, mechanical technologist, project manager or a journeyperson in a suitable trade.
Applicable experience in underground mining, preferably potash and able to obtain/retain a Saskatchewan underground Supervisor ticket. (Minimum 3 Years)
Experience using an asset management system such as SAP
A strong safety conscious mindset.
Strong communication skills
An individual looking to be part of a positive team environment.

Application Deadline

This posting will be active until 11:59pm CST on November 17, 2026.

Why You’ll Love Working Here

At BHP, we understand that to bring your best, you need to feel your best. That’s why our benefits are designed to support your health, your growth, and your personal balance.

Professional Development: Continuous learning and real opportunities for growth
Compensation: Fair and competitive, reflecting your role, skills, and achievements
Inclusive Culture: A workplace where everyone feels valued, respected, and free to express their authentic identity

About Our Process

At BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role. As part of the recruitment process, there are several checks which may be conducted to demonstrate applicants’ suitability for a role including police / criminal background checks, medical, drug and alcohol testing, due diligence checks, right to work checks, and/or reference checks.

Why Not You?

With operations worldwide, BHP offers limitless opportunities. Whether it’s competitive benefits, international career pathways, or the chance to be part of a world‑class project like Jansen, at BHP you can shape a career that’s truly yours.

If you’re looking for a place where your work has purpose, your growth is supported, and your impact is real, this could be your next step.

We Support a Diverse Workforce

We ensure that our recruitment process is fair, accessible, and equitable. If you have a disability and need adjustments, please contact us at inclusion@bhp.com.
