Help Build and Scale a Growing Engineering Firm
Company: Bâtiments et Infrastructures Chevarie (BIC)
Location: Montréal, Québec (Hybrid)
Position: Part-Time Internship | 15–20 hours/week
Duration: 12–16 weeks, with potential for extension
Compensation: $22–$25/hour, depending on experience
Start Date: Winter 2027
Are You Entrepreneurial? Want to Help Build a Business? At Bâtiments et Infrastructures Chevarie (BIC), we're a growing engineering consulting firm specializing in structural engineering, building rehabilitation, and building assessments across Greater Montréal.
We're entering an exciting phase of growth and looking for an ambitious, resourceful, and entrepreneurial business student to help shape our next chapter.
This isn't your typical internship. You'll work directly with our leadership team, take ownership of meaningful projects, and help develop the strategies and systems that will allow our company to scale.
If you've ever thought about starting your own business, this is an opportunity to experience what it actually takes to build one.
Help define where we're going and how we'll get there.
- Update our business plan and establish 3–5-year growth objectives.
- Conduct market research and identify new business opportunities.
- Develop financial forecasts, performance indicators, and growth scenarios.
- Translate strategic goals into actionable initiatives.
Help build our brand and develop a systematic approach to attracting clients.
- Develop and implement a marketing strategy.
- Identify target markets and potential strategic partnerships.
- Improve our online presence, website, and digital marketing.
- Create marketing materials and service presentations.
- Help establish a CRM and client acquisition process.
Help build the systems that will allow BIC to grow efficiently.
- Document workflows and develop standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Create standardized templates for proposals, quotations, and project documentation.
- Identify opportunities for automation and productivity improvements.
- Implement project management and workflow tracking tools.
- Develop processes that support delegation, onboarding, and future hiring.
We're less interested in how many internships you've completed and more interested in how you think, solve problems, and take initiative.
You'll be a great fit if you:
- Are studying Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Management, Marketing, Operations, or a related field.
- Have a strong entrepreneurial mindset and interest in growing businesses.
- Are proactive, resourceful, organized, and comfortable working independently.
- Enjoy both strategic thinking and hands-on execution.
- Have strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Are comfortable learning new technologies and digital tools.
Bonus points if you:
- Have started a business, side hustle, or entrepreneurial project.
- Have experience with marketing, business development, or process improvement.
- Are familiar with CRM, project management, AI, or automation tools.
- Are bilingual in English and French.
No engineering background is required. We're looking for business-minded individuals who bring fresh ideas and a willingness to learn.
- Direct exposure to entrepreneurship: Work closely with BIC's leadership and see how a growing business operates.
- Real ownership: Lead projects and implement solutions with a measurable impact.
- Broad business experience: Gain hands-on exposure to strategy, marketing, operations, and business development.
- Flexibility: Hybrid work arrangements and scheduling around your studies.
- Growth opportunities: Potential to extend the internship or transition into a longer-term role as BIC expands.
You're someone who sees a problem and starts thinking about how to solve it. You enjoy taking initiative, exploring new ideas, and turning them into practical results.
You're excited about working in a small, growing company where your contributions matter.
Most importantly, you don't just want to learn about building a business. You want to help build one.
Send us your résumé and a short introduction explaining:
- Why entrepreneurship and business development interest you.
- A project, initiative, or business idea you're particularly proud of.
- What excites you about helping grow a small engineering firm.
We value initiative, curiosity, and practical problem-solving over a perfect résumé.
