This opportunity is well suited to someone who enjoys structured accounting responsibilities, resolving discrepancies, and working collaboratively with colleagues across departments. If you value accuracy, consistency, and doing your work well, this could be an excellent fit.

Why You'll Want This Role

  • Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and follow up with customers by telephone and email regarding overdue balances.
  • Apply customer payments and investigate deductions, short payments, unapplied cash, and account discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate customer account information and organized collection records.
  • Review customer credit applications and recommend credit limits and payment terms for approval.
  • Work with internal departments to resolve customer billing and payment issues.
  • Support accounts payable by reviewing, coding, matching, and recording supplier invoices.
  • Verify purchase orders, receiving documentation, applicable taxes, and required approvals.
  • Assist with supplier statement reconciliations, payment preparation, expense reports, and corporate credit card transactions.
  • Prepare journal entries, reconcile assigned general ledger accounts, and investigate discrepancies.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities, financial reporting, and audit documentation.
  • Follow established accounting procedures and internal controls while identifying opportunities to improve processes.
  • Develop the knowledge needed to provide broader accounts payable coverage as required.

  • Experience using an ERP system in an accounting environment.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills, including the ability to analyze and reconcile financial information.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills for customer correspondence, payment follow-ups, and collaboration with internal departments.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to investigate and resolve financial discrepancies.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Assets:

  • French-language skills for communicating with French-speaking contacts.
  • Experience using SAP or a comparable enterprise accounting system.
