In this role, you'll manage complex, high-volume payroll across multiple provinces while supporting employees and internal departments in French and English. You'll enjoy a flexible hybrid schedule, a respectful team environment, and the opportunity to deepen your payroll expertise through varied and meaningful work.

Why You'll Want This Role

  • Enjoy a flexible hybrid arrangement with just 2 onsite days every 2 weeks.
  • Join an experienced, supportive team that values respect, collaboration, and long-term stability.
  • Build your expertise through exposure to complex, multi-provincial payroll, collective agreements, and varied payroll scenarios.
  • Receive ongoing training and guidance from experienced payroll leadership.
  • Benefit from 3 weeks of vacation, paid personal and sick days, retirement savings contributions, and additional employee benefits.

What You'll Do

You'll take ownership of accurate, timely biweekly payroll processing for employees across Canada, including salaried and hourly staff in unionized and non-unionized environments. You'll work independently while having access to a knowledgeable management team when complex situations require additional guidance.

Your attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage competing priorities will help ensure employees are paid correctly and payroll operations run smoothly.

Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle, high-volume biweekly payroll for employees across multiple Canadian provinces.
  • Calculate and administer regular earnings, vacation pay, sick pay, retroactive adjustments, and other payroll transactions.
  • Apply relevant collective agreements, payroll policies, and legislative requirements to ensure accurate calculations.
  • Process statutory and third-party deductions, including garnishments, union dues, pension contributions, and retirement savings deductions.
  • Respond to payroll questions from employees, site management, and internal departments in French and English.
  • Prepare and support monthly and year-end payroll reporting, reconciliations, and regulatory filings.
  • Use Excel to review payroll information, perform calculations, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records, protect confidential employee information, and follow established internal controls.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and management to resolve complex payroll issues and support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of experience processing payroll, with a solid understanding of applicable Canadian payroll legislation and practices.
  • Experience managing full-cycle payroll processes, including adjustments, deductions, and reconciliations.
  • Ability to work accurately with high payroll volumes and competing deadlines.
  • Strong French and English communication skills to support employees and internal departments across Canada.
  • Working knowledge of collective agreements and their application to payroll calculations.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including familiarity with VLOOKUP and PivotTables.
  • Excellent attention to detail, discretion, organizational skills, and a customer-service mindset.
  • Ability to work independently, take initiative, collaborate with colleagues, and seek guidance when needed.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.

Assets:

  • Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification or progress toward certification.
  • Experience with cloud-based payroll or human capital management systems.
  • Experience processing payroll across multiple provinces, including Quebec.
  • Payroll accounting knowledge and experience supporting year-end reporting.

Benefits

  • 3 weeks of vacation, prorated during the first year.
  • 10 paid sick days and 3 personal days.
  • Group benefits beginning after the 90-day probationary period.
