Business Development Representative
Introduction
Are you a relationship-driven sales professional who enjoys turning new customer conversations into long-term business opportunities?
Our client is seeking a Business Development Representative to join its growing team in Concord, Ontario. This is an existing vacancy created to support growth, offering the opportunity to build valuable experience across business development, customer onboarding, account management, and sales.
This is an in-office position with a salary range of $55,000 to $60,000 annually.
You will take ownership of new customer relationships from initial qualification and onboarding through their first months of development. Rather than focusing exclusively on outbound prospecting, you will have the opportunity to understand customer needs, identify growth potential, and help develop accounts for transition into strategic sales channels.
What You’ll Do
You will act as a key connection between new customer onboarding, customer success, and business development.
From the first conversation, you will help customers get established, understand available products and services, and identify opportunities to expand the relationship. You will maintain regular contact with developing accounts, conduct proactive outreach, and use customer and CRM data to uncover new opportunities.
This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to develop broader commercial sales and account-management skills while working within an established Canadian organization.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary contact for new customer account creation, qualification, and onboarding.
- Research prospective accounts and assess their potential.
- Conduct proactive outbound outreach to new and developing customers.
- Introduce customers to relevant products, services, programs, and digital purchasing resources.
- Build customer relationships through structured follow-up during the first several months of the relationship.
- Identify opportunities for product adoption, equipment sales, and broader account growth.
- Generate and qualify new sales opportunities.
- Manage and develop accounts within an assigned territory.
- Maintain complete and accurate customer profiles in CRM and internal systems.
- Use CRM reporting and customer information to identify trends, leads, and sales opportunities.
- Coordinate with internal sales and account-management teams to transition qualified growth accounts.
- Support sales campaigns, customer programs, and special projects.
- Attend industry events and accommodate occasional out-of-town travel when required.
Qualifications
You may be a strong fit if you bring:
- Excellent customer-facing communication and relationship-building skills.
- Professional phone communication and confidence initiating customer conversations.
- A proactive approach to customer development, outreach, and follow-up.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Experience maintaining accurate customer information using CRM or related business systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- The ability to work independently, manage priorities, and remain accountable for customer follow-up.
- A tactful, diplomatic, and professional approach to customer interactions.
- Commercial curiosity and an ability to recognize opportunities beyond the customer's immediate request.
- The ability to balance sales activity with accurate administrative and CRM work.
- Comfort collaborating with sales colleagues when accounts are ready to move into other strategic channels.
Benefits
Our client offers a compensation and benefits package designed to support both professional growth and long-term career development, including:
- Salary of $55,000 to $60,000 annually.
- Employer-paid health, dental, vision, life insurance, travel insurance, paramedical services, and employee and family assistance benefits following the three-month probationary period.
- Group RRSP matching after one year of service, with employer matching of eligible employee contributions up to 3%.
- Two weeks of annual vacation to start.
- One additional vacation day earned per year, up to a maximum of 20 vacation days.
- Paid sick days under the employer's applicable policy.
- A stable Monday-to-Friday daytime schedule, generally 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Exposure to a broad portfolio of products, customer needs, and commercial sales opportunities.
- Opportunities to strengthen business development, customer success, CRM, account-management, and consultative sales capabilities.
This is an in-office opportunity based in Concord, Ontario. Department scheduling needs, occasional overtime, industry events, and some out-of-town travel may be required.
Why Work with Us
This opportunity is particularly well suited to someone who wants to grow beyond a traditional outbound-only business development position.
You will have meaningful ownership of new customer relationships, including onboarding, early account development, structured follow-up, and identifying opportunities for future growth. That gives you the chance to see how relationships develop over time rather than simply qualifying a lead and immediately handing it off.
Our client offers the stability of an established Canadian business combined with continued organizational growth. You will work closely with experienced sales professionals while developing transferable skills across customer success, business development, account management, sales technology, and commercial relationship building.
For an ambitious sales professional looking to build a broader foundation for future opportunities in account management, inside sales, outside sales, or strategic business development, this role provides an excellent next step.
