Binnie is looking for an Engineering Assistant to join our Traffic Engineering Division, which provides traffic engineering services for traffic operations reviews, traffic safety studies, traffic modelling and analysis, transportation planning reports, and traffic management studies. Some recent assignments include traffic engineering support on the Owner’s Engineer Team for the Pattullo Bridge Replacement and Fraser River Tunnel Projects, traffic management support on the Broadway Subway Line, and traffic modelling support for TransLink’s new rapid bus lines.
The position is in our Burnaby office, located near scenic Deer Lake, for the January to August 2027 work term. There may be an opportunity to extend the work term depending on project requirements.
You will be working with some of the most experienced senior technical experts in the industry, Senior Project Managers and Engineers on interesting design management, traffic engineering and field assignments. You will be a member of our diverse team in a challenging role that offers mentorship opportunities.
YOUR ROLE:
- Modifying basic design drawings in AutoCAD and Civil 3D
- Completing field assignments as required by Project Managers
- Performing design calculations as required by Project Managers and Engineers
- Preparing technical reports under the direction of Project Managers and Engineers
- Plotting, assembling, and delivering drawing submission packages
- Preparing project documentation including hard copy and electronic file transfers
- Maintaining file naming and layer management conventions set by Binnie
- Completing quality control procedures
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Previous work experience in a civil engineering environment is preferred.
- Currently completing Degree in Civil Engineering (3rd year student or equivalent preferred)
- Previous exposure to AutoCAD and Civil 3D is preferred.
- Valid Driver’s License to conduct site visits as required (an asset but not required)
- Willing to work outdoors on-site as required
- Ability to consistently produce accurate, high-quality work
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cooperatively in a team environmen t

The salary for this position is commensurate with experience; the salary range for this position is $24.60 - $26.60 hourly. The final salary for this role may vary based on several factors, including relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs.
