Project Coordinator

Bird Construction’s Industrial Group builds key installations such as mining process plants, wind farms, power distribution infrastructure and other multi-disciplinary facilities.

Join Bird Construction as a Project Coordinator where you will play a key leadership role in the daily coordination and management of your assigned Industrial projects. Reporting to the Project Director, you will be accountable for supporting all phases of projects, from proposals, planning, engineering, execution and handover. Your contribution will ensure that the work is completed on time, within budget, and in compliance with company standards, safety protocols, and client expectations.

What You Will Be Working On

Support the implementation of the company's Health & Safety Program, promoting a strong safety culture and monitoring compliance by all project personnel and subcontractors.
Assist in planning, scheduling, engineering oversight and coordinating (pre-) construction activities for power generation & distribution projects, natural resource processing and related electrical, mechanical and civil works.
Collaborate closely with the Project Superintendent and site teams to ensure smooth field execution and alignment with project milestones.
Contribute to procurement processes, including preparing scopes of work, assisting in subcontractor selection, and monitoring subcontractor performance.
Track and analyze project costs, assist with budget forecasting, and support monthly billing and cost reporting.
Prepare and contribute to internal and external progress reports, ensuring transparency on project status, risks, and financial health.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with clients, consultants, engineers, and stakeholders, addressing issues proactively and professionally.
Participate in project meetings, support documentation and change management processes, and ensure quality control standards are upheld on site.

Your background

Academic background in mechanical, electrical or industrial engineering with a strong emphasis on power generation or mineral processing.
Minimum 2–5 years of progressive experience in project coordination or management roles within the energy, mining or infrastructure sectors.
Strong understanding of construction safety, environmental regulations, and project execution best practices.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, contract documents, specifications, and construction schedules.
Excellent problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and a proactive mindset to anticipate and address project challenges.
Proficiency with MS Project or Primavera; experience with project management platforms such as Viewpoint or Procore is an asset.
Bilingualism (French/English) is required as you will communicate with stakeholders inside and outside of Quebec.
Willingness to work on-site in remote project locations as required.

This career opportunity starts at our Montreal offices for the proposal, planning and engineering phases, where working in hybrid mode (office and tele-work) is possible. Subsequently, you will mobilize to one of our sites for the construction phase.

Participer à la planification, la cédule, la supervision de l’ingénierie et à la coordination des activités de (pré) construction pour des projets de production et de distribution d’énergie, de traitement des ressources naturelles ainsi que des travaux électriques, mécaniques et civils connexes.
Collaborer étroitement avec le surintendant de projet et les équipes de chantier afin d’assurer une exécution harmonieuse des travaux et le respect des jalons.
Contribuer aux processus d’approvisionnement, notamment en préparant les portées de travaux, en participant à la sélection des sous-traitants et en assurant les suivis de rendement.
Effectuer le suivi et l’analyse des coûts, participer aux prévisions budgétaires et soutenir les activités de facturation et de production des rapports.
Préparer et contribuer aux rapports d’avancement internes et externes, en assurant une transparence quant à l’état du projet, aux risques et à la santé financière.
Maintenir des communications claires et constantes avec les clients, consultants, ingénieurs et autres parties prenantes, tout en traitant les enjeux de manière proactive et professionnelle.
Participer aux réunions de projet, soutenir les processus de documentation et de gestion des changements, et veiller au respect des normes de contrôle de la qualité sur le chantier.

Votre profil

Formation universitaire en génie mécanique, électrique ou industriel, avec une forte spécialisation en production d’énergie ou en traitement des minerais.
Minimum de 2 à 5 années d’expérience progressive dans des fonctions de coordination ou de gestion de projets dans les secteurs de l’énergie, des mines ou des infrastructures.
Solide connaissance des normes de sécurité, de la réglementation environnementale et des meilleures pratiques d’exécution de projets.
Capacité à interpréter les dessins techniques, les documents contractuels, les devis techniques et les échéanciers de construction.
Excellentes aptitudes en résolution de problèmes, en communication et approche proactive permettant d’anticiper et de résoudre les défis du projet.
Maîtrise de MS Project ou Primavera; une expérience avec des plateformes de gestion de projets telles que Viewpoint ou Procore est un atout.
Le bilinguisme (français et anglais) est requis puisque vous serez appelé à communiquer avec des intervenants à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur du Québec.
Disponibilité pour travailler sur des chantiers situés dans des régions éloignées, selon les besoins des projets.

Cette opportunité de carrière débute à nos bureaux de Montréal pour les phases de soumission, de planification et d’ingénierie, où un mode de travail hybride (bureau et télétravail) est possible. Par la suite, vous serez affecté(e) à l’un de nos chantiers pour la phase de construction.
