Senior Software Developer – Java

Contract Duration: Until October 1, 2027

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to join a large-scale enterprise application development project. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on Java development experience, strong knowledge of Oracle or SQL databases, RESTful web services, and microservices architecture.

The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise applications while collaborating with technical and business teams throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, code, test, debug, and maintain enterprise-level web applications.
• Translate technical specifications and business requirements into functional software solutions.
• Develop and maintain Java-based applications and RESTful web services.
• Design and implement microservices architecture and scalable application solutions.
• Work with relational databases, including Oracle and SQL.
• Develop and maintain APIs and integrate applications with external systems.
• Troubleshoot technical issues and support application deployment, implementation, and migration.
• Follow object-oriented programming principles, design patterns, and clean coding practices.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.
• Participate in technical design reviews, code reviews, and Agile development activities.

Must-Have Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in designing and developing large-scale, multi-client web applications.
• 10+ years of hands-on Java development experience.
• Strong experience working with Oracle and/or SQL databases.
• 5+ years of hands-on experience developing REST APIs and RESTful web services.
• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and application design principles.
• Experience with Azure DevOps.
• Knowledge of security protocols and technologies, including JWT, OAuth 2.0, and SSL certificates.
• Strong understanding of object-oriented programming, design patterns, refactoring, and clean coding practices.
• Experience working in Agile development environments.

Additional Assets

• Experience with SOAP web services.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerization.
• Experience with Oracle PL/SQL, XML, and Unix shell scripting.
• Experience with data modelling, ERDs, UML, BPMN, and data flow diagrams.
• Familiarity with JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, and SharePoint.
• Experience with systems re-engineering, workflow optimization, and automation.
• Experience in Ontario Public Sector (OPS) projects and familiarity with OPS development standards.
