About This Career Opportunity

Black & McDonald’s Power Generation team is growing! If you are committed and collaborative professional looking to contribute to a hard-working, innovative team, this opportunity is for you.

The Finance Administrator provides accurate and efficient financial and administrative support to the Power Generation Region. The role is responsible for administering employee travel and board entitlements, maintaining financial records, supporting audit and month-end activities, ensuring compliance with company policies and collective agreements, and contributing to continuous process improvement initiatives.

Duties And Responsibilities

Prepare and submit accurate allowance requests to Finance and HR and maintain up-to-date digital filing and tracking systems
Respond to inquiries from new hires and existing employees regarding travel and board allowance eligibility, requirements, and application processes
Perform ongoing audits and support annual audits of employee travel and board eligibility records, including related account reconciliations
Support month-end close activities, prepare financial reports, and provide administrative support to the Finance team
Track action items and deadlines for finance related projects and initiatives
Maintain finance records and documentation, including internal team SharePoint
Identify and support process improvement opportunities
Other financial duties as required

Education Requirements

A diploma or degree in business, administration, finance or accounting is required
A Client Security Clearance is preferred, and may be required
Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.

Work Experience Requirements

Experience working with moderately complex spreadsheets, data analysis, and financial record keeping.
Knowledge of trade agreements and working with unionized employees is an asset
2-3 years of experience in a finance, accounting, payroll, or administrative support role.
Experience working in a unionized environment is considered an asset.
Experience administering employee allowances, expenses, or compensation-related programs is preferred.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this role is between $55,000/annually and $65,000/annually. The starting salary will be based on several factors such as the successful candidate’s qualifications, including but not limited to education, experience and overall competencies. Salary is one component of Black & McDonald’s total rewards package. Total rewards vary by position and may include additional offerings such as group insurance benefits, pension plan, annual performance bonus, and career development programs.
