This is an operational, floor-based leadership position with a primary focus on ensuring all banquet events are properly prepared and delivered to the resort's service standards.
Working closely with the Sales & Events and Food & Beverage management teams, the Banquet Captain is responsible for interpreting Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), understanding event floor plans, coordinating room setups, and overseeing the banquet service team throughout each event.
The successful candidate is an organized, proactive, and confident leader who can independently prepare event spaces, direct staff, manage service flow, communicate effectively with culinary and management teams, and ensure every event runs smoothly from setup through breakdown.
This is a hands-on position focused on event setup and execution, rather than administrative or office-based event planning.
Key Responsibilities

- Coordinate the setup of food and beverage stations, bars, service areas, and equipment as required.
- Ensure all event details align with the client's requested arrangements and established resort standards.
- Identify and communicate any discrepancies, missing items, or setup concerns to management in advance of the event.
Event Execution & Floor Management
- Take ownership of the event floor and oversee all operational aspects of banquet service.
- Lead and supervise banquet service staff throughout the event, delegating duties and ensuring responsibilities are clearly understood.
- Direct the flow of service, ensuring food and beverage service is coordinated, timely, and consistent.
- Communicate with the culinary team regarding meal timing, dietary requirements, course progression, and special requests.
- Monitor service standards and proactively address guest needs, service issues, and operational challenges.
- Act as the primary on-site operational contact during events, escalating concerns to management when necessary.
- Ensure professional, attentive, and polished service is maintained throughout the event.
Event Breakdown & Closing Duties
- Oversee the breakdown and cleanup of event spaces following each function.
- Ensure furniture, equipment, linens, and supplies are properly stored and returned to their designated locations.
- Ensure banquet spaces, service stations, and back-of-house areas are left clean, organized, and ready for future functions.
- Ensure all equipment and supplies are accounted for and report any damage, shortages, or maintenance requirements.

- Maintain appropriate beverage inventory and assist with beverage counts and stock replenishment.
- Oversee bar operations, beverage service, and responsible alcohol service.
- Maintain proper food safety, workplace safety, and cleanliness standards.
