Contract (Fixed Term)

Job Description:

QNX, a division of BlackBerry Limited (NYSE: BB; TSX: BB), provides the trusted foundation that software-defined and physical AI systems depend on to operate safely and predictably in the real world. For nearly half a century, QNX has powered safety-critical applications where failure is not an option. The business leads the way in delivering safe and secure operating systems, hypervisors, middleware, solutions, and development tools, along with the support and services delivered by trusted embedded software experts. Today, QNX technology underpins hundreds of millions of vehicles on the road and a wide range of mission-critical systems across industrial controls, robotics, medical devices, commercial transportation, rail, and aerospace and defense.

Are You the Person We're Looking For?

Do you enjoy finding complex problems before customers do? Are you passionate about building automation that improves product quality, reliability, and performance? If you're a Software Developer in Test who thrives on solving technical challenges and wants to contribute to software powering some of the world's most critical systems, we'd love to hear from you. This is a 12-month fixed-term contract position providing maternity leave coverage within the QNX Power Management Test Team.

The Power Management Test Team at QNX is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Senior Software Developer in Test to help ensure the quality and reliability of QNX Power Management technologies. In this role, you will do far more than execute tests. You'll develop and enhance automated test frameworks, investigate complex system issues, perform root-cause analysis, and work closely with developers to support high-quality software releases.

Working in a hands-on lab environment, you will validate software on embedded hardware platforms and contribute to all verification activities related to QNX Power Management features. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys software development, automation, debugging, and continuous quality improvement.

Responsibilities:

Design, develop, and optimize automated test cases to continuously improve test coverage, and efficiency
Debug, analyze test results, generate and document defects, and verify fixes
Produce detailed test reports based on the results with high accuracy
Execute comprehensive test suites on new software builds using reference and customer hardware, and analyze results
Maintain test lab environments
Create, update, and maintain test plans and test cases based on product requirements and feature specifications
Configure, integrate, and validate software deliverables on embedded hardware platforms
Collaborate closely with software developers, and fellow test engineers
Reproduce and investigate reported issues using systematic debugging and root-cause analysis techniques

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
Must have: Strong programming background with expert-level proficiency in Python, C, and shell scripting
Extensive experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks
Deep understanding of Linux internals and extensive hands-on experience with system configs, scripting, and debugging in enterprise environments
Knowledge of Power Management testing on different hardware
Solid understanding of formal test theory, test methodology, and experience in developing automated tests and testing tools
Demonstrated experience writing test plans and test cases, executing tests and reporting results
Proven technical leadership and mentoring experience
Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
Familiar with source versioning, problem reporting and constant integration systems (SVN, Git, JIRA, Jenkins end-to-end CI/CD pipelines)
Working knowledge of QNX or other embedded operating system is an asset
Experience in debugging, root-cause analysis, and system validation for embedded hardware and software environments

Why Join QNX?

Work on technology deployed in more than 275 million vehicles worldwide
Help deliver software used in safety-critical and mission-critical environments
Solve challenging problems at the intersection of embedded systems, automation, hardware, and software
Collaborate with highly skilled engineers and embedded software experts
Influence product quality through innovation in test automation and verification strategies
