Original job description

Turn your love of community and nature into meaningful local impact. Blooming Boulevards is looking for an organized, enthusiastic Part-Time Project Coordinator to help bring a seasonal native-plant and urban-biodiversity initiative to life across Mississauga. In this varied, hands-on role, you’ll connect with residents and volunteers, visit project sites, coordinate outreach and materials, and keep activities and reporting

on track. If you enjoy balancing practical details with people-focused work - and want to

help create greener, more welcoming neighbourhoods - we’d love to hear from you.

Position Details

Location: Mississauga, Ontario; a combination of administrative work and travel to residential

yards, community hubs, and public spaces

Term: October 26, 2026 to March 31, 2027

Schedule: Approximately 24 hours per week, generally over four days; scheduling will be adjusted during statutory-holiday weeks

Compensation: $22.00 per hour, plus applicable vacation pay, paid statutory holidays, and

MERCs

Maximum hours: 540 paid hours over the contract term

Key Responsibilities

Manage project timelines, task assignments, inventories, work plans, and seasonal deliverables.
Monitor progress, provide regular updates, and recommend corrective action when risks or delays arise.
Prepare accessible, alphabetized plant care sheets, visual botanical guides, and laminated reference materials for residents and plant-sale customers.
Maintain volunteer databases, sign-up tools, attendance records, role descriptions, training materials, and follow-up communications.
Help create safe, inclusive, and welcoming volunteer and community activities while representing Blooming Boulevards professionally.
Conduct site visits across Mississauga to assess soil, sun exposure, and readiness for habitat installations.
Coordinate materials, tools, deliveries, native-plant and seed inventory, and on-site workflows.
Communicate with residents, participants, workshop hosts, and community partners in a timely, accessible, and inclusive manner.
Organize shared digital files, meeting notes, consent records, contact lists, and other project documentation.
Track resident reach, volunteer hours, event attendance, referrals, consultations, feedback, sales or pre-orders, and engagement by activity.
Protect participant information and maintain accurate, accessible project records.
Prepare stakeholder updates and a final narrative and quantitative report for the project funder and Blooming Boulevards board.

Seasonal Focus

October 26 –December 31, 2026: Support native-seed sales, localized seed-collection

workshops, winter storage logs, and autumn community outreach.

January 1 –February 28, 2027: Process project data, update volunteer records, organize

performance metrics, support educational webinars and biodiversity campaigns, and manage

spring plant-sale pre-orders.

March 1 – 31, 2027: Coordinate incoming native perennial and seed inventory, finalize public-

facing plant resources.

Deliverables: Hand off volunteer databases, distribution protocols, and site-survey metrics, and

grant report before employment period closes in March 31.

Qualifications

Strong organizational, time-management, and follow-through skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple deadlines and work independently.
Clear written and verbal communication skills and a respectful, service-oriented approach to working with residents, volunteers, and community partners.
Experience maintaining accurate digital records, spreadsheets, databases, shared files, or project-tracking tools.
Comfort collecting and organizing quantitative and qualitative information for updates and reports.
Ability to participate in site visits and coordinate materials and activities in varied community settings.
Sound judgment when handling personal information, consent records, and operational issues.
Knowledge of native plants, ecological gardening, urban biodiversity, volunteer coordination, community programming, or nonprofit project delivery is an asset.
Familiarity with Mississauga communities and local environmental initiatives is an asset.

Working Conditions

This is a time-limited, grant-funded position with a mix of administrative, community-

facing, and field-based work. Some scheduling flexibility may be required for

workshops, outreach activities, deliveries, and seasonal project needs. The coordinator

must accurately track hours and remain within the funded maximum.
