Bluestar Engineering Ltd. is a Calgary-based EPCM company specializing in oil and gas and renewables projects. We are a group of professionals who form a fully integrated multi-disciplinary organization backed by many years of experience.
We are currently seeking a Junior or Intermediate Piping Drafter to join our team.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Use AutoCAD to develop 2D drawings and related documents according to Bluestar’s specifications or specific Client’s specifications.
- Produce 2D drawings including process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).
- Work with the Project Process Lead and/or Senior Designer(s) as required
- Print drawings, adhering to schedule and quality requirements.
- Modify and revise design documents as required.
- Prepare and maintain drawing lists.
- Check to ensure accuracy and completeness of produced work, drawings, and reports
- Knowledge of upstream oil and gas production projects – single/multiwell batteries, test satellites, pipeline gathering systems, oil storage batteries, etc.
- Existing facility as-built model creation.
- Managing multiple projects of varying size and complexity at the same time.
- Ensure compliance with approved design standards and specifications to provide quality designs.
- Post-secondary diploma in Process Piping Drafting or equivalent program.
- 2+ years of relevant 2D experience. EPCM experience is preferred.
- Knowledge of upstream oil and gas production projects – single/multiwell batteries, test satellites, pipeline gathering systems, oil storage batteries, etc.
- Good communication skills, personable and able to work with a team.
- Must be able to take direction and ask questions when necessary.
- Ability to adjust to change and multitask within a busy environment.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities
Develop, revise, and check 2D drawings and related documents in AutoCAD, including process flow diagrams and piping and instrumentation diagrams, while meeting client specifications, schedules, and quality requirements. Maintain drawing lists, support project leads and senior designers, create as-built models for existing facilities, and manage multiple projects while following approved design standards.
Requirements
Requires a post-secondary diploma in Process Piping Drafting or an equivalent program and at least two years of relevant 2D drafting experience; EPCM experience is preferred. Candidates should understand upstream oil and gas production projects and have strong communication and teamwork skills, the ability to take direction and ask questions, and the flexibility to multitask in a busy environment.
