Blutic is looking for experienced Senior Backend Developer (Java + Databricks) with 7 to 15 years of experience to join our high-performing engineering team. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, Spring Framework, Databricks, SQL, Test-Driven Development (TDD), and multi-threaded application development. Experience in the investment banking or financial services domain is plus.

This is a W2 (Hybrid) opportunity.

Location: Montreal (Canada), New York (USA), Newark, New Jersey (USA)

Experience: 7 to 15 Years

Required Skills & Qualifications

Must-Have

7 to 15 years of hands-on experience in Java application development.

● Strong experience with Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security).

● Hands-on experience with Databricks.

Strong SQL skills with database performance tuning and query optimization.

● Experience with Test-Driven Development (TDD) and writing unit/integration tests.

● Experience with multi-threading, concurrent programming, and low-latency systems.

Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP), design patterns, and software architecture principles.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Preferred Skills

Prior experience in the investment banking or financial services domain.

Familiarity with FIX protocol, trading platforms, or risk management systems.

Experience with messaging systems such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or ActiveMQ.

Experience with performance profiling and optimization tools.

Exposure to Agile/Scrum development methodologies.

Experience with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS is an added advantage.

Key Responsibilities

Software Development

Develop, maintain, and enhance enterprise-grade Java applications.

● Build scalable and secure solutions using Spring Framework (Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Security).

Design and optimize high-performance SQL queries and database interactions.

Develop multi-threaded applications capable of handling high-concurrency workloads.

● Develop and integrate data processing solutions using Databricks for large-scale data engineering and analytics workloads.

Test-Driven Development (TDD)

Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following TDD principles.

Develop and maintain robust unit and integration tests.

Ensure code quality through automated testing, peer reviews, and continuous integration practices.

Domain-Specific Solutions

Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate financial requirements into technical solutions.

Develop and enhance trading platforms, risk management systems, and settlement applications.

Optimize applications and data pipelines for performance, scalability, and low-latency processing.

Work with structured and semi-structured data using Databricks and Spark-based technologies.

Collaboration & Leadership

Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance.

Collaborate with DevOps, QA, Data Engineering, and Product teams to ensure seamless solution delivery.

Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making.

Continuous Improvement

Identify opportunities for application and data pipeline optimization.

Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in Java development, Databricks, and financial technology.

Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives across the development lifecycle.

Information Security Responsibilities

Promote and enforce awareness of key information security practices, including acceptable use of information assets, malware protection, and password security protocols.

Identify, assess, and report security risks, focusing on confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information assets.

Understand and evaluate how data is stored, processed, or transmitted, ensuring compliance with data privacy and protection standards (GDPR, CCPA, etc.).

Ensure data protection measures are integrated throughout the information lifecycle to safeguard sensitive information.
