This is an exciting opportunity for a highly analytical finance professional to join one of the fastest-growing areas of the bank within Technology & Operations (T&O). As banks continue to accelerate their digital transformation efforts, technology investments are expanding rapidly, creating significant growth and career development opportunities. This role offers unique exposure to emerging technologies such as AI, cloud computing, automation, and other innovation trends shaping the future of banking. While the position is focused on the financial management and reporting side of the business, you will gain valuable insight into how these leading-edge technologies are implemented across the organization.

The Senior Financial Analyst will play a key role in monthly financial reporting, analysis, and business performance support for T&O. Responsibilities include validating and processing large volumes of data, automating reporting processes, maintaining and enhancing Power BI dashboards, and delivering meaningful financial insights to business partners. The role requires close interaction with CIO groups, LFO (Finance) teams, and other stakeholders across the organization. Success in this position will come from strong analytical capabilities, a solid understanding of reporting requirements, and the ability to streamline processes through automation, macros, and advanced Excel techniques. Ideal candidates will have experience working with large data sets, financial systems and databases such as Essbase, and a passion for leveraging technology to improve efficiency and decision-making. Analyzes, monitors and reports on the financial performance and condition of the business/function. Performs financial & business analysis in support of business solutions and business outcomes. Works across BMO to provide service and support the financial management activities of the business/portfolio and ensure financial information is reported completely and accurately.

Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
Provides advice and guidance to assigned business/group on implementation of solutions.
Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
Ensures alignment between stakeholders.
Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
Provides and documents financial period analysis for financial information packages e.g. monthly run-rate forecast, quarterly forecast to actuals, etc.
Ensures financial results are well understood and how they impact to business results.
Develops knowledge related to business/group strategy, plans and financial activities.
Gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
Coordinates and executes specific activities for the implementation of strategic initiatives; includes tracking metrics and milestones.
Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on business objectives.
Employs systems e.g. customized exception reports, tracking reports, etc. to manage information.
Analyzes data and information to provide insights and recommendations.
Executes routine tasks such as service requests, transactions, queries etc. within relevant service level agreements.
Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications:
Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Completed or near completion of an accounting designation
Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
Advanced Excel with VBA macros, PowerBi, and Essbase
Verbal & written communication skills - In-depth.

Salary:

$55,500.00 - $120,000.00

The above represents BMO Financial Group’s pay range and type.

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
