About the Role

The Vice President, National Accounts is responsible for developing, growing and retaining strategic relationships with senior executives, investment research and due diligence teams, portfolio managers, and platform leaders at Investment Dealer organizations across Canada. The role identifies and executes opportunities that drive sales, increase market share and expand the adoption of BMO Global Asset Management's investment solutions, including Mutual Funds, ETFs, Alternatives, SMAs and other specialized offerings.

The Vice President provides market intelligence, strategic insights and thought leadership to support business growth and commercial decision-making, and also delivers presentations, investment education and strategic recommendations during client engagement.

The position requires strong business acumen, investment expertise and influencing skills, along with the ability to manage complex initiatives, navigate competing priorities and operate effectively in a dynamic, autonomous, and highly relationship-driven environment.

Accountabilities

Build and maintain strategic relationships with dealer executives, research analysts, portfolio managers, product leaders, investment committees and other key stakeholders.

Develop and execute strategic account plans that drive sales, asset growth, product adoption and expanded representation of BMO GAM's investment capabilities, including Mutual Funds, ETFs, Alternatives, SMAs, CDR, etc., across dealer approved shelves, recommended lists, model portfolios, fund-of-fund solutions and UMA/SMA platforms.

Deliver presentations, investment education and strategic recommendations through client meetings, webinars, conferences and industry events to audiences with varying levels of technical expertise; engage portfolio managers and specialists where appropriate.
Act as a senior advocate for client needs and distribution opportunities, collaborating internally across Distribution, Investments, Product, Operations, Compliance and other BMO teams.
Represent BMO GAM at dealer conferences, due diligence meetings, national webinars, industry events and strategic client engagements; evaluate participation and sponsorship opportunities based on commercial value and strategic fit.
Gather and communicate relevant dealer intelligence, platform developments, competitive insights and gatekeeper expectations to enable coordinated and enhanced field sales activity.
Help determine business priorities and best sequence for execution.
Provide input into product development, commercialization, competitive positioning, marketing strategy and broader distribution initiatives based on client feedback and market trends.
Lead and/or support strategic initiatives that enhance business effectiveness, scalability, processes, client coverage, knowledge sharing and opportunity management.
Exercise sound judgment in escalating and resolving complex business issues, setting priorities and balancing client, commercial, operational, and regulatory considerations.
Maintain accurate records and reporting, mentor colleagues, uphold all legal, regulatory and compliance requirements, and contribute to a collaborative, high-performance culture.
Occasional air travel within North America may be required approximately 1 – 5 times a year and client meetings may occur outside of the Toronto Financial District or on weekday evenings from time to time, based on business and client needs.

Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.

Qualifications

Typically 7 to 10 years of progressive experience in asset management distribution, national accounts, platform distribution, wealth management, institutional sales, or a related field.
Advanced understanding of the Canadian intermediary and wealth management landscape, including dealer governance, product approval processes, due diligence practices, model portfolios, fund-of-fund structures and UMA/SMA platforms.
Strong knowledge of Canadian investment products and markets, including Mutual Funds, ETFs, Alternatives, SMAs and portfolio construction.
Exceptional relationship management, communication (verbal and written), presentation and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted partnerships and engage senior decision-makers.
Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic account plans that drive measurable business outcomes.
Technical proficiency in investment fund research, competitive analysis and portfolio management concepts.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders without direct authority while managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
High degree of ownership, judgment, adaptability, and commitment to client service, accuracy and disciplined execution.
Works well independently and regularly handles non-routine situations.
Complete fluency in written and spoken English required; French is an asset.
Graduate degree required preferably in finance, commerce, economics or a related field.
Industry designations such as CFA, CIM, CAIA, or MBA are considered an asset.
Experience with Morningstar, Evestment, Bloomberg and other investment research tools is an asset.

Salary:

$80,000.00 - $175,000.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group’s expected target for the first year in this position.

BMO Financial Group’s total compensation package will vary based on the pay type of the position and may include performance-based incentives, discretionary bonuses, as well as other perks and rewards.
