Position at a glance

The FIC Credit Team supports BNP Paribas’ mission by providing rigorous credit analysis and recommendations for a diverse range of financial institution clients. The role aims to protect the bank’s interests by ensuring high-quality credit files and accurate risk assessments. Through this work, the position enables the bank to build long-term, secure relationships with key global financial players.

In detail

Prepare annual credit reviews and new requests for credit committees by conducting comprehensive counterparty analyses and peer comparisons to provide reasoned credit opinions.
Analyze capital markets and corporate banking transactions, including derivatives and trade finance, to evaluate risk profiles for regulated funds and agency principals.
Coordinate the credit risk process with Coverage, Business, and other functions to ensure seamless execution of credit requests and transactions.
Review counterparty credit exposure excesses in liaison with the Credit Risk Control team to maintain portfolio integrity.
Collaborate with the Legal Department to execute documentation by providing credit-sensitive terms and reviewing legal agreements such as ISDA/CSA to mitigate risk.
Support diverse business lines by structuring transactions in partnership with Relationship Managers, Traders, and Market Risk to mitigate various risk forms.
Develop local market intelligence through desk research and financial statement analysis to keep the team updated on industry trends and regulatory changes.
Monitor sensitive counterparties and evaluate provisioning levels to guarantee the quality of the credit portfolio and compliance with Basel III requirements.
Manage multiple tasks and files simultaneously by prioritizing requests with supervisors to ensure all deadlines and data quality standards are met.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Economics.
MS, MBA, CFA, or FRM preferred.
The knowledge of English is required.*
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in capital markets or credit risk analysis.
Reasoned communication when expressing credit decisions and opinions to stakeholders.
Collaborative approach when working with credit analysts, relationship managers, and front office teams.
Responsible organizational skills when managing multiple files and strict deadlines.
Trustworthy conduct when upholding corporate values and ethical standards in all professional actions.
Technical proficiency in Word and Excel for data quality and reporting purposes.
Understanding of capital markets products and legal documentation (ISDA, CSA, GMRA) to support transaction structuring.
Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Professional working proficiency in French and English languages are required.
