The position at a glance

The Credit Associate supports BNP Paribas’ mission by ensuring the robust monitoring and execution of counterparty risk requests for the North American Corporate platform. This role facilitates the management of diverse client portfolios, including investment grade and high yield groups, to maintain financial stability. By coordinating between various product and risk teams, the position ensures efficient transaction turnarounds and high-quality credit coverage.

In detail

Monitor the credit quality of assigned investment-grade, high yield, and sponsor-owned clients by reviewing financial statements and industry news to mitigate portfolio risk.
Prepare comprehensive credit proposals for new originations, refinancings, and annual reviews to support informed decision-making during the credit lifecycle.
Coordinate the credit process with coverage, product, and risk teams through proactive communication to ensure smooth and efficient transaction turnarounds.
Create and maintain internal risk ratings and client exposure levels using bank methodologies to ensure accurate portfolio tracking.
Present higher-risk clients during formal monitoring meetings, such as Quarterly Sector Reviews, to provide transparency on watch-list entities.
Participate in client due diligence calls and meetings to gather essential information for assigned client names.
Maintain detailed portfolio reporting regarding deal flow and exposure tracking to support departmental oversight.
Interact with internal and external auditors during loan examinations to ensure compliance with regulatory and bank standards.
Collaborate with other bank branches to exchange information on group or contributor strategies to ensure a unified approach to client management.
Support the development of junior team members through mentoring and collaborative teamwork to contribute to the overall success of the CCM team.

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a similar field.
Minimum 3+ years of experience in a Corporate Banking environment or Rating Agency covering corporate clients.
The knowledge of English is required.*
Reasoned projection modeling skills when analyzing borrower financial statements.
Solid understanding of loan structures, terms, and credit agreements to support accurate risk assessment.
Knowledge of general banking products and practices to facilitate effective client management.
Responsible multitasking abilities when managing live deal transactions under quick turnaround times.
Professional verbal and written communication skills when interacting with Senior Bankers and auditors.
Collaborative initiative when working both independently and with peers to achieve team objectives.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting and data management.
Given the vast majority of our clients, both internal and external, are based outside of Quebec and Canada, specific language requirements may apply. Professional working proficiency in English language is required.
