Original job description

K2 Fasteners. Mississauga, Ontario. On site.

About K2

Since 1989, K2 Fasteners has supplied stainless steel and corrosion-resistant fasteners to Canadian industry. Contractors, manufacturers, distributors and industrial customers count on K2 for the parts that have to hold up where ordinary steel won't: marine, food processing, water treatment, construction and more. K2 is one of the country's leading specialists, it is growing, and it recently added 33,000 square feet of warehouse capacity to keep up.

Why This Role

Most inside sales jobs ask you to take orders. This one asks you to grow a business. You take over a book of established customers and you are trusted to make it bigger, and you are paid for it: K2's gross profit bonus rewards both the growth you find in existing accounts and the new customers you bring in.

There is a clear path from Inside Sales Associate to senior and key account roles. K2 teaches the product, so you don't need to arrive as a fastener expert. And as K2 grows, so do the opportunities inside it.

The Role

Ontario is K2's fastest-growing region, and K2 is adding to the Mississauga team to keep pace. You will work with a regional manager who invests in coaching and in building the team. You'll look after your customers well and look for more: other products they could be buying from K2, other applications, a better way to solve the problem in front of them. When there is a list of new companies to reach, you are comfortable picking up the phone from your desk. This is an inside role, not outside sales.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a book of existing customer accounts, building relationships and becoming their go-to resource.
  • Spot opportunities to cross-sell and upsell by understanding what each customer's business actually does.
  • Build competitive, profitable quotes and follow them through to orders.
  • Process orders accurately, check stock across branches and expedite urgent orders when a customer is waiting.
  • Call prospective customers from your desk to open new accounts.
  • Learn K2's product line, grades, materials and applications, and use it to advise customers.
  • Work closely with the branch team, the warehouse and K2's branches across Canada.

What You Bring

  • Experience in inside sales, account management, counter sales, sales coordination or customer service with trade or industrial customers, and a track record of growing the business you look after.
  • Comfort reaching out to customers and prospects, not just waiting for the phone to ring.
  • Accuracy and urgency with quotes and orders, and comfort with order entry, ERP or CRM systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A fast learner of technical products. Fastener experience is valuable but not required; K2 is just as interested in people from bearings, industrial or safety supply, construction supply, or suppliers to mechanical and electrical contractors.
  • Coachable, energetic, and someone who makes a team better.

The Details

  • Compensation: $60,000 to $70,000 base salary (based on commensurate experience), plus a gross profit bonus, so strong performance is rewarded.
  • Benefits: RRSP matching up to $1,000 a year, vacation, and an extended health and dental plan.
  • Growth: a defined path to senior and key account roles, with product training from day one.
  • Location: Mississauga, Ontario. On site at the branch.
  • Reporting: Regional Manager, Ontario.
  • Vacancy: This posting is for an existing vacancy. AI is not used to screen applicants.

How to Apply

Send your resume and a short note about a customer whose business you grew: what you noticed, what you suggested, and what happened.

K2 is committed to an inclusive workplace and will provide accommodations throughout the hiring process on request.
