Original job description

English section of this bilingual listing.

Montreal, hybrid: in our Mile-End office every week, based on the team's needs

The future of retail is being shaped in stores. The strongest brands turn digital intent into qualified in-store traffic, deliver a personalized and differentiated customer experience, and measure its impact on revenue precisely.

Booxi is the platform that lets them run these experiences, measure their revenue impact and, soon, predict what they will generate. More than 8,500 locations already use us, including Dior, Hermès, Sephora and L'Oréal.

To get there, we're looking for an Engineering Manager who still loves to code and is a natural leader: you lead a team of developers, keep a hand in the technical decisions, and make sure the team delivers what it promises.

WHAT YOU'LL FIND AT BOOXI

A stack to help evolve: React, TypeScript, Java, PHP and MySQL, with a say in the architecture
AI in our daily work: we've already built it into how we work and we keep pushing further
A people-first culture built on flexibility, trust and autonomy
Genuine attention to your work-life balance

WHAT YOU'LL DO AS ENGINEERING MANAGER

You shape the Engineering Manager role at Booxi: you set the standards and grow the role with the company
You grow your team: 1:1s that go beyond task updates, coaching, and performance reviews that help people progress
You hold hard conversations early: performance, behaviour or values, before the problem settles in
You code with your team: you take your share of development, code reviews and debugging
You look after your team's applications: stability, performance and technical debt
You team up with your Product Manager: technical options, effort and risk on the table early, for a realistic roadmap
You make delivery predictable: sprint planning, testing and deployments, with DevOps on the CI/CD pipeline
You measure what your team ships: velocity, bugs and hotfixes, shared with the team and leadership

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You genuinely care (Just Care): you treat your team and your Product Manager as true partners, and the quality of your work is how you show respect for the people carrying it into the field
You take ownership (No Passengers): you own your scope from end to end without needing reminders, find a way forward when the path isn't clear, flag blockers early, and stay with the problem when it gets hard
You're a team player (Succeed as One): you align early with other departments, share information before being asked, contribute actively to cross-team challenges, and know the collective result is what matters
You're curious to the core: you ask questions before executing, challenge the status quo when needed, and stay curious about new tools, including AI, other teams, and our industry
You choose Booxi: our mission, our market, and what it means to build in a scale-up

YOUR PROFILE

7+ years in software development, including 3+ years formally managing a development team (1:1s, performance cycles)
Solid full-stack web experience: APIs, microservices, JavaScript/TypeScript, databases
You have carried a technical project end to end
You have rallied a team around a goal and seen it through
You have already split your time between code and management, without sacrificing your team's time
You have shaped a team's culture by making its values concrete
You're very comfortable in French and have a good working command of English

WHAT WE OFFER

Generous vacation policy (min. 4 weeks per year)
Full company closure from December 25 to January 1
2 personal days + unlimited sick days
Group insurance
$300 home-office allowance
Flexible schedule and remote work

If you're a developer who loves people as much as code and want to lead a team without letting go of the keyboard, we'd love to talk.

Apply and help us make commerce more human.

Tu as déjà pris toi-même des décisions difficiles : plan d'amélioration, recadrage, fin d'emploi

4 semaines par an)
