About the Role

As FP&A Lead, you'll own how Botpress plans, forecasts and reports on the business. Reporting to the VP of Finance and working alongside our Financial Controller, you'll build the operating model, run the budget and forecast process, and produce the board and investor reporting that guides how we grow. You'll also own the company's dashboards - the single source of truth that every team is measured against - so that accountability runs on numbers everyone can see. This is a builder's seat: you are our first dedicated FP&A hire, and the model, the process, the reporting pack and the dashboards are yours to design, build and run. Capital efficiency is core to how Botpress operates - this role exists to make sure every leader knows what a decision costs before they make it, and how it turned out afterward.

This is a senior individual-contributor role, levelled and compensated at our Manager band. At Botpress, "Manager" titles are reserved for people managers; our IC ladder runs Analyst → Senior Analyst → Lead → Principal.

Responsibilities

Build and own the company's driver-based operating model: ARR build (new, expansion, contraction, churn), headcount and compensation planning, opex by department, cash runway and long-range plan
Own the company's operating dashboards end to end - define the metrics with each department leader, build and maintain the dashboards yourself, and make them the standard by which teams are held accountable
Automate and streamline planning and reporting - we expect you to leverage AI tools aggressively
Run the annual budget and quarterly re-forecast end to end
Own the monthly management pack and the financial sections of board and investor reporting, including SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR/GRR, CAC payback, burn multiple, runway)
Deliver monthly budget-vs-actual and forecast-vs-actual analysis with the Controller: the Controller confirms the actuals, you explain the drivers
Partner with department leaders on headcount plans, pricing, unit economics and investment cases
Maintain the long-range model and data-room financials; support fundraising, diligence and investor requests
Define and govern the KPI framework with the Controller so that every number reported externally ties to the books

5-7 years of progressive FP&A experience, with 3+ years in a B2B SaaS or subscription business
You've built an ARR model and a headcount plan yourself - not just maintained one - and run a budget cycle end to end at a venture-backed company (Series A-C)
Technical by inclination: you're comfortable in SQL and a BI tool (Looker, Metabase or similar), you pull your own data, and you'll happily vibe-code a dashboard or a script with AI tools rather than wait for someone else to build it
Fluent in SaaS metrics and how investors read them; you can explain the difference between bookings, ARR and recognized revenue to a non-finance leader
Enough accounting fluency to work productively with a Controller: accruals, deferred revenue and capitalized costs are not mysteries to you
Expert in Excel / Google Sheets
Bias toward automation - you'd rather build a system than repeat a task, and you have a track record of it
Self-directed and comfortable partnering with a technical CEO who won't ask the finance questions for you
Clear, concise communicator - board-ready commentary, not just numbers
Nice to have: experience with a planning tool (Mosaic, Causal, Abacum, Adaptive or similar); CPA, CFA or MBA; a technical or engineering background
