Original job description

Help redefine customer support for the AI era.

Most companies are running support on ticketing systems built in 2007, with AI bolted on as an afterthought.

Botpress is the enterprise-grade AI agent platform for customer support - built the other way around.

The work ahead is ambitious. The opportunity is rare. We take a deliberate approach to growth: product-led, capital-efficient, and highly focused.

If you want to build the customer support platform for the AI era, we're looking for top talent to join us.

About the Role

As a Senior Software Developer at Botpress, you'll be at the forefront of developing innovative solutions that drive the future of conversational AI. As a senior member of the engineering team, you'll own features end to end, from design to production, and help set the technical direction of our AI agent platform. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to design, build, and maintain scalable applications, using your experience to solve complex problems while raising the bar on code quality and performance across the team.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, development, testing, and deployment of customer-impacting features
Make architecture and technical decisions for scalable, reliable systems
Collaborate with product managers and UX/UI designers to define and implement new features
Conduct code reviews and mentor engineers to ensure best practices and continuous improvement
Take ownership of troubleshooting and debugging complex production issues
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation within the team

Requirements

5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, ideally in a fast-paced product environment
Expert proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and frameworks like React
A track record of designing and shipping complex systems at scale
Deep understanding of software development principles, patterns, and methodologies
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS) is a plus
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Experience mentoring other engineers and leading technical projects
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members and stakeholders
A passion for exploring new technologies and a desire to contribute to a rapidly evolving product
An enthusiastic team player driven to achieve results and contribute to the overall success of Botpress

About Botpress

Botpress raised a $25 million Series B round in 2025. We're building the enterprise-grade AI agent platform for customer support - not by adding AI to old infrastructure, but by building AI-first from day one.

As a fast-growing start-up, we run a lean and innovative ship that leans on AI for maximum business impact. At Botpress, everyone is an owner, bringing their unique perspective and talents. We intentionally hire individuals who are eager, passionate, talented, and hungry to learn and grow throughout their career.

You'll be on a team that's not just adapting to the AI revolution, but leading it. Joining our team means changing how millions of customers interact with the companies they do business with - and building the platform that defines the next era of customer support.

Benefits

4 weeks of vacation
Paid sick and parental leave
Comprehensive health, dental, vision, travel, and life insurance
Funding for education and skills improvement
Fully-stocked fridge and cupboard - we take snacks seriously
A meaningful stock option grant - we want everyone at Botpress to think and act as an owner, and to share in what we build
RRSP program with a 50% employer match on up to 4% of salary
STM transit subsidy
A beautiful, fully renovated office
A vibrant office community including regular team socials
