Position Summary
We are seeking a Structural Design Engineer who is passionate about in-depth structural design and technical challenges. The role is primarily focused on the analysis, sizing, and optimization of steel, wood, and concrete structures within a BIM (Revit) environment, for a variety of building projects.
The successful candidate will act as a technical reference in design, working closely with other engineers, drafters, and multidisciplinary teams.
Responsibilities

- Perform advanced structural analyses using ETABS, SAP2000, and SAFE
- Develop efficient, economical structural concepts that comply with Canadian standards
- Experience working in existing buildings and retrofit projects.
- Ensure technical coordination of projects with internal (mechanical, electrical, etc.) and external stakeholders (architects, clients, etc.)
- Develop and validate design assumptions, analytical models, and load cases
- Actively participate in preliminary and detailed design phases
- Contribute to solving complex structural challenges (renovations, existing constraints, phasing, etc.)
- Ensure the technical quality of deliverables (drawings, calculation notes, specifications)
- Collaborate with the BIM team to ensure structural integration in Revit
- Provide technical support to junior engineers (EITs) and drafters
- Occasionally participate in technical discussions with clients and partners
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
- Analysis software: ETABS, SAP2000, SAFE
- Modeling and coordination: Revit Structure (BIM)
- Standards and codes: CCQ, CSA (A23.3, S16, O86, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Engineering with a structural focus. Graduate-level courses in building structures (reinforced concrete, dynamic analysis, seismic design, etc.) are considered an asset
- Member in good standing of the OIQ
- 6 to 10 years of experience in structural design of buildings in Canada
- Excellent technical expertise in steel, concrete, and wood
- Strong experience in numerical structural analysis
- Rigorous, analytical, and solution-oriented approach
- Ability to work on complex projects with a strong conceptual component
- Technical autonomy combined with an appreciation for collaborative work
- Excellent command of French
- Experience designing institutional, commercial, industrial, or complex residential projects
- Strong involvement in structural decision-making during the conceptual phase
- Interest in innovation, optimization, and high-performance structures
- Experience in a collaborative BIM environment
- A culture built on collaboration, knowledge sharing, talent development, and the quality of our work.
- A 37.5-hour workweek with flexible scheduling and the possibility of finishing at noon on Fridays.
- A hybrid work policy that promotes balance between professional and personal life.
- Overtime hours that are recognized and compensated, either through time off in lieu or paid compensation.
- A competitive total compensation package, including a market-driven salary, a comprehensive group insurance plan, and an RRSP program with employer contributions.
- A structured training and professional development program supported by UniversiT, our internal entity dedicated to the technical and personal growth of every employee.
- A tailored mentorship program designed according to each employee’s experience level and career path.
- Cutting-edge technology, including BIM and modern collaborative tools.
