Overview
BPA is seeking an experienced
Construction Administrator to support the construction and renovation of complex building projects throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
This role is suited for a seasoned building systems professional with strong field experience in mechanical and electrical construction, a solid understanding of consulting engineering practices, and the ability to work independently with clients, contractors, and project teams.
The successful candidate will serve as a key technical representative during construction, helping ensure projects are delivered in accordance with design intent, contract requirements, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Construction Administration & Site Leadership
- Lead construction-phase services for mechanical and electrical building systems projects.
- Act as BPA's primary site representative on assigned projects.
- Conduct regular site reviews to monitor construction progress and compliance with contract documents.
- Identify construction deficiencies, recommend corrective actions, and follow issues through to resolution.
- Review and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and product submittals.
- Evaluate proposed substitutions and contractor change requests.
- Participate in contractor coordination meetings and provide technical guidance during construction.
- Review progress claims and provide recommendations regarding completed work.
Technical Oversight
- Monitor installation of HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, electrical distribution, lighting, controls, and life-safety systems.
- Ensure installations comply with applicable codes, standards, and engineering design requirements.
- Support commissioning activities and witness equipment start-up and testing.
- Investigate field issues and recommend practical solutions that balance cost, schedule, constructability, and operational requirements.
- Coordinate resolution of multidisciplinary field conflicts.
Client & Project Management Support
- Develop trusted relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
- Provide construction-related technical advice to clients and project managers.
- Support project delivery strategies and risk management initiatives.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, and construction sequencing reviews.
- Mentor junior site staff and technical personnel when required.
Experience
- 10+ years of experience in construction administration, field engineering, site supervision, commissioning, or consulting engineering.
- Proven experience supporting the construction of institutional, commercial, healthcare, industrial, or mission-critical facilities.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with contractors, owners, architects, and consulting teams.
- Strong understanding of construction delivery methods and contract administration practices.

Salary range: $90 000.00 – $115 000.00 per year, with final compensation determined based on experience, qualifications, scope of the role and geographic location.
