Original job description

BPA is more than an engineering firm - it’s a passionate team shaping the buildings and infrastructure of tomorrow. With offices across Canada, our expertise in sustainable design and technical innovation drives impactful projects from coast to coast. Joining BPA means putting your talent to work on meaningful projects, collaborating with recognized experts, and growing in a flexible, people-focused and forward-thinking environment.

The Opportunity

Are you an experienced Electrical Engineer looking to take the next step in your career while helping establish a new office in Vancouver?

BPA is expanding, and our new Vancouver office offers a unique opportunity to combine the energy and influence of a startup environment with the strength, resources, technical expertise, and reputation of an established, Canada-wide engineering firm. With 5+ years of relevant experience in building electrical engineering, you will play a key role in delivering a diverse portfolio of institutional projects while contributing to the growth of our local team and culture.

In this role, you will lead and support electrical building systems design, collaborate with teams across the country, mentor younger resources and contribute your technical knowledge throughout all project phases. You will have the opportunity to take ownership of meaningful responsibilities, collaborate directly with senior leadership, and help shape project delivery standards and practices as the Vancouver office grows.

If you are a driven, collaborative, and technically strong Electrical Engineer who is excited by the opportunity to make an impact, grow professionally, and help build something new, we would like to hear from you.

Your Daily Impact

Develop electrical designs, project specifications, and electrical drawing details for building electrical systems, including but not limited to power, lighting, fire alarm, security, and communications, using Revit, AutoCAD, or any other BIM collaboration software.
Perform design coordination and quality control on assigned projects.
Collaborate with clients and consultants throughout the project.
Project management: Ensure that scheduling, time management, and reporting are implemented effectively and efficiently.
Effectively communicate and coordinate among all parties and disciplines involved in assigned projects.
Accountable for on-site Construction Administration, including completion of site surveys and inspections on construction sites in assigned projects.

Essential Functions

Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (specializing in building) or building engineering.
5+ years of experience in electrical building systems design.
Member in good standing of EGBC (Engineers & Geoscientists British Columbia).
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit.
Capability to write reports, complete site visits, and design electrical systems with minimum supervision.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Collaborative spirit and positive leadership to influence technical decisions and client relationships.

Build your career with us and enjoy…

A culture built on collaboration, knowledge sharing, talent development, and the quality of our work.
A 37.5-hour workweek with flexible scheduling and the possibility of finishing at noon on Fridays.
A hybrid work policy that promotes balance between professional and personal life.
Overtime hours that are recognized and compensated, either through time off in lieu or paid compensation.
A competitive total compensation package, including a market-driven salary, a comprehensive group insurance plan, and an RRSP program with employer contributions.
A structured training and professional development program supported by UniversiT, our internal entity dedicated to the technical and personal growth of every employee.
A structured Mentorship Program that connects early-career professionals with experienced mentors to kick-start your BPA career.
Cutting-edge technology, including BIM and modern collaborative tools.
The “Finding Balance” program, which promotes overall well-being, mental health, and sustainable productivity.

Salary range: $78,000 to $105,000 per year. The final salary will be determined based on experience, skills and internal equity

We are committed to the principles of employment equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility across all our offices in Canada. We encourage applications from women, visible minorities, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, and members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Accommodations are available upon request for candidates taking part in any stage of the selection process.

Thank you for your interest in joining our team. Please note that only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by the Talent team.
