- Assess current state data capabilities and design the target state data operating model, including roles, ownership, decision rights, funding, and engagement models across business and technology teams.
- Establish and lead a Data Centre of Excellence (COE), defining its charter, services, standards, reusable patterns, and community of practice to drive consistent adoption across the enterprise.
- Define and own the data architecture across cloud and on-prem environments, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Design and implement enterprise-grade data models, schemas, and integration frameworks leveraging AWS and Snowflake.
- Design and operationalize data governance frameworks, including data ownership and stewardship, data quality, metadata management, lineage, master and reference data, and access control policies.
- Partner with cross-functional business and technology leaders to align data architecture decisions with core business goals and analytics initiatives.
- Evaluate and select technologies for data ingestion, storage, management, and analytics, and establish architectural standards and best practices across the data lifecycle.
- Drive optimization of Snowflake and AWS data environments for performance, cost efficiency, and reliability, and collaborate with data engineering teams to implement DataOps practices, including CI/CD, automation, and observability.
- Lead enterprise data migration, integration, and modernization initiatives, ensuring quality, compliance, and continuity while providing architectural oversight and mentorship.
Qualifications:
- 8 to 12 years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or BI solution design within large-scale or enterprise environments.
- Proven experience defining enterprise data strategies and target state data operating models, including maturity assessments, roadmaps, and business cases.
- Demonstrated success standing up or scaling a Data COE or data governance office, including its charter, operating cadence, and adoption metrics.
- Deep expertise in Snowflake (architecture, performance tuning, data sharing, and governance) and the AWS data ecosystem (S3, Glue, Lambda, Redshift, IAM).
- Strong background in designing data models, data lakes, and analytical warehouses for large-scale analytics workloads.
- Strong knowledge of data governance frameworks such as DAMA-DMBOK or DCAM, and of financial services data and regulatory requirements such as BCBS 239, OSFI guidelines, and privacy legislation.
