Role Overview

Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Frontend Application Architect / Technical Lead to design the solution, write code alongside the team, and lead a cross-functional squad of web and mobile engineers delivering digital banking experiences across Angular web UI and native iOS and Android apps. You will be the technical point of contact for the client, translating business needs into scalable, secure architecture. You will make sure the team delivers on time and to a high standard for our financial services clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end application architecture for web (Angular) and native mobile (iOS and Android) solutions, from design through production release.
- Stay hands-on: write production code, build proofs of concept, and lead by example on complex features and technical spikes.
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of front-end and mobile developers through code reviews, pairing, design sessions, and technical coaching.
- Define and enforce coding standards, design patterns, and best practices across web and mobile codebases.
- Design front-end and mobile integration with backend services and APIs (REST, GraphQL, microservices), partnering closely with backend and platform teams.
- Produce and maintain architecture artifacts, including solution designs, technical specifications, sequence and data flow diagrams.
- Ensure solutions meet banking requirements for security, privacy, accessibility (WCAG), performance, and regulatory compliance.
- Drive CI/CD, automated testing, and release management, including Apple App Store and Google Play release processes.
- Work with Product Owners, Business Analysts, UX designers, and Scrum Masters in an Agile environment to plan, estimate, and deliver work, and clearly explain technical trade-offs and recommendations to senior client stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and tools, including AI-assisted development, and recommend improvements to the client's digital platforms.
- 10+ years of software development experience across web and mobile, with 3+ years in a Technical Lead, Application Architect, or Solution Architect role; experience in banking or financial services is a strong asset.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Angular (v14+), TypeScript, RxJS, HTML5, CSS/SCSS, and state management (e.g. NgRx).
- Hands-on experience building native mobile apps: iOS (Swift, SwiftUI/UIKit) and Android (Kotlin, Jetpack Compose).
- Solid understanding of mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, modularization) and front-end architecture (micro-frontends, component libraries, design systems).
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work directly with client stakeholders at all levels.
- Knowledge of application security best practices, including OAuth 2.0/OpenID Connect, secure storage, and OWASP guidelines for web and mobile.
- Experience integrating with RESTful APIs and microservices; familiarity with Java/Spring Boot or Node.js backends is an asset.
- Working knowledge of CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps), Git, and automated testing frameworks (Jest, Cypress, XCTest, Espresso); experience with cloud platforms (AWS or Azure) is a plus.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Proven ability to lead and mentor development teams and deliver complex projects in an Agile setting, with excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
