The successful candidate will bring extensive experience working therapeutically with young people and

collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide individualized, trauma-informed and culturally

responsive care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete psychosocial assessments and develop, review and evaluate treatment plans collaboratively

with youth and, where appropriate, parents or caregivers.

  • Provide individual therapy for concerns such as anxiety, depression, trauma, emotional dysregulation

and substance use, using developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed approaches.

  • Provide therapeutic support to siblings of children with severe disabilities, including support with family

stress, grief, identity, boundaries and coping skills.

  • Offer family sessions, caregiver consultation, psychoeducation and group support as appropriate to

client needs and program services.

  • Assess suicide risk, self-harm and other safety concerns; develop collaborative safety plans and arrange

referrals or escalation when needed.

  • Attend circle of care meetings and coordinate care with Child and Youth Care Professionals,

psychologists, nurses, educators and other involved professionals.

  • Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in Jane, including assessments, consent, treatment

plans, progress notes and relevant correspondence.

  • Explain confidentiality and its limits, obtain and document appropriate consent, and support meaningful

youth participation in care decisions.

  • Use approved AI tools ethically, protect client information, verify outputs and retain responsibility for

clinical decisions and documentation.

  • Participate in clinical consultation, professional development, required training and program

improvement activities.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work from a recognized institution.
  • Current registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Social Workers (ACSW), a valid

practice permit and clinical designation through the ACSW Clinical Registry.

  • Individual authorization to perform restricted psychosocial interventions where required by assigned

clinical duties.

  • Extensive recent experience providing psychotherapy to adolescents, including youth with complex

mental health and/or substance use concerns.

  • Demonstrated competence in adolescent development, therapeutic engagement, family systems, risk

assessment and safety planning.

  • Training and applied experience in relevant approaches such as cognitive behavioural therapy,

dialectical behaviour therapy skills and motivational interviewing.

  • Demonstrated understanding of Indigenous culture, history and traditions, and the ability to provide

culturally responsive care to Indigenous youth and families.

  • Ability to build trusting therapeutic relationships and provide trauma-informed, culturally responsive and

strengths-based care.

  • Ability to deliver effective in-person and virtual therapy while maintaining appropriate professional

boundaries.

  • Proficiency with Jane, or a comparable electronic clinical record system with the ability to learn Jane

promptly.

  • Proficiency in the ethical use of AI tools, including privacy, accuracy, bias, appropriate consent and

professional accountability.

  • Strong clinical writing, communication, organization and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Availability for 20 hours per week, including in-person appointments in St. Albert on Monday evenings.
  • Clear Police Information Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, completed within the last 6 months.
  • Clear Child Intervention Record Check, completed within the last 6 months.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five or more years of relevant clinical experience, including substantial experience supporting

adolescents.

  • Experience supporting siblings of children with disabilities, culturally diverse families and youth involved

with child and family services.

  • Additional training in adolescent addictions, family therapy, group facilitation or trauma treatment, and

familiarity with Alberta community resources.
