Original job description

Where Repairs Become Care.

Are you the kind of person who notices when something’s off before anyone else does? Do you take pride in fixing things the right way - not just the quick way? Are you just as comfortable handling a work order as you are jumping in to solve a problem on the spot?

Good! We need you.

Brightisle is looking for a reliable, hands-on, and solutions-focused Maintenance Technician to support the day-to-day upkeep and repair of our homes across the province. Based in St. John’s, this is a full-time position with occasional travel as needed. This role is key to ensuring the spaces where people live and receive care are safe, functional, and well-maintained.

What You’ll Do (Besides Keep Everything Running)

You’ll be on the front lines of keeping our homes in great shape - handling repairs, responding to issues, and making sure nothing falls through the cracks - by:

Maintain Safe, Functional Homes – Complete routine maintenance, repairs, and minor renovations across residential properties, ensuring issues are resolved quickly and properly.
Manage Work Orders End-to-End – Receive, prioritize, and update maintenance requests in the internal system, keeping work organized and stakeholders informed.
Handle Core Repairs & Upkeep – Address everyday maintenance needs including minor plumbing, painting, plastering, fixtures, doors, cabinets, and general wear and tear.
Support Clean, Organized Environments – Oversee site clean-ups, bulk garbage removal, and maintain tools, equipment, and supply inventory.
Collaborate & Keep Operations Moving – Work closely with team members, transport materials as needed, and ensure timely submission of expenses and documentation.

What You Bring

Experience in general maintenance, repairs, or a related field (formal training or trade certification is an asset)
A practical, hands-on skillset across basic carpentry, plumbing, and general repairs
Strong ability to prioritize tasks, manage time, and respond to competing demands
Comfort using Microsoft 365 and digital systems to track and update work
Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
Willingness to travel outside the Metro region as needed
Ability to safely perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
Clear Record of Conduct, Vulnerable Sector Check, and Child, Youth & Family Services Record Check

Why you’ll love this role and working for Brightisle…

This is more than a maintenance job - it’s a chance to make a real, visible impact every single day. You’ll be part of a team that values your work, trusts your judgment, and relies on your skill to keep things running smoothly.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across a variety of homes and environments, build your skills, and take pride in seeing the direct results of your work.

Brightisle has a strong compensation program, including health and dental benefits, RRSP matching, opportunities for education and focused career development, wellness allowance, company hotel rates and company rates for cell phone plans at Telus.

About Us: Brightisle

The homes we operate are places where people live, grow, and receive care. That’s why we’re committed to maintaining spaces that are safe, functional, and built to support well-being.

We’re guided by a set of values that shape how we work every day:

Ready to Make an Impact?

Apply now by submitting your resume and cover letter! We’d love to hear from you before someone else incredible beats you to it. But the posting will remain open until we have found the one!
