Original job description

About Us

Brookfield Renewable, as one of the core businesses under Brookfield Corporation, is one of the world’s largest owners, operators, and developers of renewable power, with $125 billion of power assets under management. Our diverse portfolio of hydro, wind, solar, distributed energy, storage, and sustainable solutions extends across five continents, totaling over 46,000 megawatts of generating capacity. We use our operating capabilities, scale and global reach to develop and operate a high-quality clean energy portfolio in a responsible manner, helping accelerate the global transition to net zero.

Come Join Us

At Brookfield Renewable, we attract and retain high-performing individuals who are interested in making an impact, driving meaningful change and being part of a fast-paced and collaborative environment. Join a purpose driven winning team, committed to results, in an inclusive and high-performing culture. Together, we contribute to the success of one of the fastest growing and largest publicly traded, pure play renewable power platforms in the world while supporting decarbonization and greater energy sustainability to facilitate the global transition to a net-zero.

About the Role

Reporting directly to the Director, Accounting, the Senior Manager, Accounting will provide hands-on leadership to accounting teams and act as a critical bridge between strategy and execution. The successful candidate will help shape priorities, mobilize teams, strengthen close and reporting discipline, and support transformation initiatives that improve the quality, consistency, and scalability of accounting and reporting workstreams. The role requires strong technical accounting judgment, business partnership, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, matrixed environment with stakeholders across Operations, Procurement, Financial Reporting, Lender Relations, Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and other finance teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead controllership for assigned portfolios, with accountability for the integrity, accuracy, and timely delivery of financial results, effective internal controls, sound accounting judgments, and high-quality financial reporting.
Review complex accounting matters and drive the consistent application of IFRS/US GAAP accounting frameworks and corporate accounting policies.
Lead coordination with external auditors and internal stakeholders to support statutory and consolidated audits, SOX compliance, and timely remediation of control deficiencies.
Provide clear, practical financial insight to the Director and business partners, highlighting risks, issues, dependencies, and recommended actions.
Partner closely with the Director to shape team priorities, translate strategic objectives into actionable plans, and drive disciplined execution across the accounting function.
Drive accounting transformation initiatives focused on simplification, standardization, automation, and improved use of technology-enabled finance tools.
Design and implement scalable accounting processes and controls that improve close efficiency, reporting quality, audit readiness, stakeholder service, and the function’s ability to support business growth
Lead financial integrations, dispositions, and capital recycling initiatives by ensuring appropriate alignment of accounting policies, reporting structures, and controls

Knowledge and Experience Required

10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, including meaningful leadership experience within large, complex organizations, shared services environments, public companies, or highly matrixed accounting functions.
Active Canadian CPA designation.
Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, U.S. GAAP, financial close processes, internal controls, and operational accounting.
Demonstrated experience leading month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities across multiple entities or portfolios.
Experience reviewing complex journal entries, reconciliations, variance analyses, and technical accounting conclusions.
Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop accounting professionals while maintaining high standards for accuracy, timeliness, documentation, and accountability.
Experience supporting audits, SOX compliance, control remediation, and financial reporting deliverables.
Demonstrated success improving processes, implementing standardization, or supporting automation and finance transformation initiatives.
Strong business partnership skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, manage stakeholder expectations, and work effectively across cross-functional teams.
Knowledge of IFS, Blackline, OneStream, Optro, and IT2 would be an asset.

Leadership Expectations and Key Competencies

Act as a trusted partner to the Director by translating strategic direction into clear priorities, practical actions, and consistent team execution.
Set clear expectations for deliverables, hold team members accountable for deadlines, and reinforce high standards for accuracy, documentation, and financial data integrity.
Review work for accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and relevance, escalating issues proactively and correcting work that falls below standards.
Break down complex issues into clear recommendations and help business partners understand key risks, impacts, and required actions.
Build strong, collaborative relationships across the organization by communicating clearly, managing expectations, and approaching problems with a shared ownership mindset.
Coach and develop team members by delegating effectively, providing feedback, creating stretch opportunities, and helping others take ownership of their growth.
Promote operational excellence by identifying process gaps, supporting automation, strengthening standard work, and encouraging continuous improvement.
Model ethical conduct, professional judgment, and a culture where results are achieved without compromising how people work together.

Note: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield’s identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.

Working here, you will enjoy:

At Brookfield, your goals are a priority. We start with your strengths and ambitions as an employee and strive to create opportunities to tap into your potential.

We work to recognize you in meaningful, personalized ways including a competitive salary, bonus structure, a health benefits program, and defined contribution pension plan.
Our spaces are open, dynamic, and collaborative, giving you access to different businesses and teams. For your wellbeing, our building is equipped with a modern gym, bike storage, and healthy snacks and drinks. Annual fitness credit.
Full reimbursement for professional fees and ongoing professional development.
We cultivate a culture where we invest in your growth and development.

Diversity & Inclusion

Brookfield Renewable embraces and promotes the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion. We welcome and encourage applications from all qualified candidates, including women, Indigenous peoples and other persons of all races, ethnic origins, religions, abilities, sexual orientations, and gender identities and expressions. We also provide accommodation during all parts of the hiring process, upon request. If contacted to proceed to the recruitment process, please advise us if you require any accommodation.
