Original job description
Incredible opportunity for a full-time Head Chef with Browns Restaurant Group!
Browns Restaurant Group is seeking a proven Chef to lead our flagship corporate Browns Socialhouse location in Langley, BC. This is more than a traditional restaurant Chef role. Langley is expected to be the clearest reflection of how we want every Browns Socialhouse restaurant to look, lead and operate, and to serve as the benchmark for systems, standards, food quality, leadership and people development.
The Chef will be a flag bearer for the brand. The right leader will bring the discipline, character and consistency required to uphold a high standard every day while building an engaged kitchen team that others in the system can learn from.
As a key BRG test location, Langley will be regularly exposed to newly developed menu items, systems, smallwares and operational components. These initiatives are an ongoing part of the business and may occur monthly. The Chef must be able to assess changes in a live operating environment, manage competing priorities and provide clear, concise and timely feedback to Regional and Culinary Development teams.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Lead day-to-day kitchen operations and execute all Browns Socialhouse systems and standards.
- Take ownership of overall kitchen performance, ensuring alignment with financial targets and operational expectations.
- Deliver consistent food quality, presentation and timing across all services.
- Execute menu rollouts and system updates with accuracy and full team alignment.
- Uphold all recipes, procedures and operational standards without deviation.
- Manage food cost, labour, inventory and ordering.
- Maintain disciplined prep, receiving, storage, labelling and product-rotation systems.
- Maintain a clean, organized and fully compliant kitchen environment.
- Recruit, train, schedule and develop team members.
- Build a culture of accountability, consistency and professionalism.
- Partner with the General Manager to ensure aligned execution and guest experience.
- Lead ongoing testing of new menu items, systems, smallwares and operational components.
- Provide clear, concise and timely feedback on test initiatives to Regional and Culinary Development teams.
WHAT YOU BRING:
- Proven track record as a disciplined Chef-operator in a high-volume, full-service restaurant environment.
- Strong background in kitchen management, including food cost, labour, inventory, prep systems and team leadership.
- Highly systems-oriented, with a focus on consistent execution rather than menu development.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to evaluate new initiatives and provide practical, concise and timely feedback.
- Excellent time-management and prioritization skills, balancing daily operations, people leadership and recurring test-location requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to build, lead and retain strong teams.
- Professional leadership style that fosters accountability and operational discipline.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams.
- Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
WHAT’S IN IT FOR YOU:
- Competitive full-time salary with paid vacation.
- Company paid health and dental benefits.
- Leadership development through practical, hands-on training seminars.
- Work closely with our Regional and Culinary Chefs to develop your skills.
- Growth opportunities with an award-winning restaurant group.
WHAT MAKES THIS ROLE DIFFERENT:
This is one of the most visible Chef roles within BRG. The successful candidate will influence standards beyond their own four walls by helping Langley remain a dependable training environment, a strong test location and the day-to-day example of excellent Browns Socialhouse execution. Interested candidates should apply via the job posting link.
At BRG we are committed to a fair and equitable recruitment process. We thank all candidates for applying; however, due to the high volume of applicants, and to ensure each candidate's journey is consistent and the selection process unbiased, we will only contact those we intend to interview.
