Original job description
Your team will support all CTA units, including the mechatronics, laboratory, software, and mechanical and electrical design teams. You will combine people management, technical expertise, and research supervision to meet the needs of BRP and external clients, particularly in the space and defense sectors.
BRP Job at the Heart of the CTA
This position offers the opportunity to build a career at BRP while working daily at the CTA in an applied research and technological development environment. You will contribute to a variety of concrete mandates in collaboration with experts, industry partners, and university teams.
You’ll Have The Opportunity To
- Plan projects, resources, and milestones with the project manager, based on priorities, budgets, and timelines.
- Coordinate disciplines and reviews with the project office, track deliverables, and propose corrective actions for any gaps or risks.
- Guide modelling and simulation methods, ensure the reliability of results, and inform engineering decisions.
- Develop simulation services for the space and defence sectors, particularly in robotics and for rovers, for BRP and partners such as MDA Space.
- Oversee those responsible for government-funded research and student supervision; align objectives with the needs of BRP and the CTA.
- Ensure the industrial transfer of ATLAS results and demonstrate the benefits that justify the efforts and industrial financial contributions.
- Align deliverables with clients and partners; improve practices and knowledge sharing through AI and digital tools.
- A bachelor's degree in engineering and at least five years of relevant experience in product or technology development. A master's degree or a PhD is considered an asset.
- Experience in team management or technical coordination, inspiring leadership, and the ability to develop people and collaborate across disciplines.
- Strong knowledge of modelling, software development, simulation, and predictive engineering, as well as an understanding of mechanical design, systems integration, and experimental validation.
- Listening, negotiation, and arbitration skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills in both French and English for collaborating with partners outside Quebec.
- The rigour required to manage multiple demanding projects, meet commitments, solve problems, and maintain the pace of execution.
- A builder's mindset, initiative, and curiosity to learn from the team, explore AI, and develop new methods in the face of uncertainty.
- Experience in supervising applied research or students in mechatronics, robotics, autonomous systems, or projects related to space or defence is considered an asset.
