Introduction
Brunel is partnering with a specialty pharmaceutical organization to recruit a Business Development Manager. This role will support the formation of business partnerships, manage partner relationships and execute strategies that maximize revenue and enterprise value through in-licensing and product acquisitions.
Responsibilities
- Identify, research and evaluate potential in-licensing products and opportunities aligned with short- and long-term business objectives.
- Identify opportunities to expand the organization’s footprint through new partnerships and markets.
- Identify key decision-makers within target organizations and build long-term relationships that lead to executed deals.
- Collaborate with management to develop criteria for product opportunities and a business development plan aligned with organizational goals.
- Analyze market, medical, clinical and product data, including product profiles, indications and patents, and develop detailed opportunity forecasts.
- Research potential products and competitors and provide clear, decision-ready analysis.
- Participate as a member of the due diligence team for products and opportunities.
- Prepare business cases and plans to support go/no-go decisions.
- Support deal negotiations and collaborate with Legal to finalize commercial agreements.
- Provide timely and accurate reporting on the opportunity pipeline, future plans and business development activity by country.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams from product and opportunity assessment through launch readiness.
- Create and maintain a deal-flow database.
- Lead alliance and deal management activities.
- Develop relationships with existing partners to maximize revenue and identify additional collaboration opportunities.
Requirements
- Life sciences degree required.
- At least 5 years of relevant pharmaceutical experience in marketing, medical affairs or business development.
- General understanding of the Canadian pharmaceutical industry, including pricing, reimbursement, sales and marketing.
- Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, including modelling or analytical work.
- Advanced PowerPoint skills and the ability to create polished, professional presentations.
- Excellent stakeholder and partner relationship-management skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills.
- Strong project-management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, strong business acumen and an entrepreneurial, hands-on approach.
- High degree of accuracy, integrity, discretion and professional judgement.
- Ability to travel approximately 10% of the time.
