Mechanical & Rotating Supervisor
Location: Fort Saskatchewan, AB
Type: Contract
Duration: Dec 31, 2027 with potential extension
Introduction:
Brunel is seeking a Mechanical and Rotating Supervisor who has hands-on field supervisory experience who has previously installed large compressor and turbine packages, understands vendor expectations, can challenge contractors when required, and recognizes that improper preservation, lubrication, alignment, or piping installation can directly impact equipment reliability and warranty compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise all rotating equipment installation activities.
- Ensure compliance with OEM manuals, project specifications, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate vendor visits and manage punch list resolution.
- Direct contractor crews performing equipment setting, alignment, grouting, coupling installation, and lube oil system work.
- Verify preservation measures are maintained before mechanical completion and commissioning.
- Review turnover packages, alignment records, torque reports, lubrication records, and vendor documentation.
- Support pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of field supervision experience in the installation, alignment, preservation, and commissioning support of rotating equipment.
- Preferred previous employment with a recognized OEM or major vendor such as Elliott, Atlas Copco, Siemens Energy, MAN, Baker Hughes, Howden, Ingersoll Rand, Kobelco, Ariel, Burckhardt, etc.
- Mechanical trade certification or Mechanical Engineering background preferred.
Technical Skills
Demonstrated experience with:
- Reciprocating compressors
- Screw compressors
- Centrifugal compressors
- Gas/steam turbines
- Pumps, fans, and packaged rotating equipment
- Lube oil systems and seal systems
- Equipment skids and auxiliary systems
Core Competencies
- Thorough understanding of OEM installation manuals, vendor procedures, preservation requirements, and turnover documentation.
- Experience managing contractor craft labor and coordinating installation activities in the field.
- Ability to interface effectively with OEM representatives, inspectors, commissioning teams, and construction management.
- Strong understanding of:
- Equipment preservation requirements
- Lubrication systems and lubricant management
- Precision alignment
- Soft-foot checks
- Foundation preparation and grouting
- Stress-free piping connections
- Mechanical completion requirements
- Vendor inspection and testing protocols
- Ability to review and execute work in accordance with manufacturer documentation, construction specifications, and ITP requirements.
