Senior Procurement Manager

Introduction
We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Procurement Manager to lead procurement activities for a major capital project. This senior leadership position will be responsible for developing and executing project procurement strategies, overseeing critical equipment and material procurement, and ensuring procurement activities align with project cost, schedule, quality, and execution objectives.
The successful candidate will work closely with project management, engineering, construction, project controls, contracts, finance, operations, and external partners to ensure procurement is fully integrated into overall project delivery. Experience supporting large-scale mining, infrastructure, energy, or heavy industrial projects is highly desirable.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement the overall project procurement strategy aligned with project execution objectives.
- Establish procurement plans, governance frameworks, procedures, standards, systems, and reporting processes.
- Lead and provide strategic direction to the project procurement team.
- Ensure procurement activities support project schedule requirements, cost objectives, technical specifications, construction sequencing, and commissioning plans.
- Provide oversight of procurement activities performed by EPC/EPCM contractors and ensure alignment with project objectives.
- Establish procurement performance metrics and reporting requirements.
- Monitor procurement activities including tendering, evaluation, negotiations, purchase orders, manufacturing, inspection, expediting, logistics, and delivery.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for major equipment, materials, and services.
- Develop supplier strategies and market intelligence for critical commodities and long-lead equipment.
- Manage commercial risks including price escalation, inflation, foreign exchange, logistics constraints, supplier capacity, and supply chain disruptions.
- Support or lead negotiations with strategic suppliers and key vendors.
- Ensure procurement decisions consider lifecycle cost, schedule, quality, risk, and operational requirements.
- Establish procurement progress monitoring, expediting, inspection, logistics, and material readiness processes.
- Maintain visibility of critical equipment and materials from award through delivery.
- Work closely with project controls to identify and mitigate procurement impacts to project cost and schedule.
- Monitor procurement commitments, forecasts, contingencies, and commercial exposures.
- Identify opportunities for cost optimization, value engineering, and commercial improvement.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing procurement organization.
- Promote collaboration across procurement, engineering, construction, suppliers, and project stakeholders.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Procurement, Engineering, Business, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of progressive procurement and supply chain experience.
- Extensive experience supporting major capital projects within mining, minerals processing, metals, energy, infrastructure, or heavy industrial environments.
- Demonstrated experience leading procurement activities on large-scale capital projects.
- Experience managing procurement through EPC/EPCM delivery models.
- Strong commercial negotiation, contract management, and purchase order management experience.
- Experience managing long-lead and critical equipment procurement.
- Strong understanding of engineering, construction, commissioning, and project controls interfaces.
- Experience leading multicultural and geographically dispersed teams.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting copper, mining, or other base-metals projects.
- Experience in Chile or Latin America.
- Knowledge of procurement, logistics, importation, and regulatory requirements within major project environments.
- Engineering or technical background.
- Experience working within EPC, EPCM, or PMC project delivery models.
- Experience supporting large processing facilities and associated infrastructure projects.
