- Provide technical direction for mechanical design, thermal design, simulation, testing, and validation.
- Maintain and improve engineering design standards, processes, and team workflows.
- Lead products through the full development lifecycle, including concept development, prototyping, verification, validation, production transfer, and mass production support.
- Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, and other internal teams to ensure alignment throughout product development.
- Define clear responsibilities, decision-making boundaries, and escalation paths across cross-functional teams.
- Work with customers, industry partners, consultants, and critical component suppliers to support technical decisions and continuous improvement.
- Ensure Engineering maintains ownership of design standards, development processes, and technical decisions.
- Oversee the design and development of complex mechanical components and assemblies.
- Support departmental planning and budget management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
- Strong understanding of thermal design and fluid dynamics.
- Strong mechanical design and engineering knowledge, including GD&T, FEA, DFM, DFMEA, PLM, thermal simulation and testing & validation.
- Strong understanding of New Product Introduction (NPI) and experience taking hardware products from concept through prototyping, verification, validation, production transfer, and mass production.
- Strong CAD design capabilities.
- Experience designing complex mechanical components and assemblies.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Quality, customers, and suppliers.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of people management and/or technical leadership experience, including experience supervising or leading engineering teams.
- Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing of industrial products.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or comparable professional engineering credential.
- Experience leading cross-functional hardware or product development initiatives.
- Experience managing departmental plans and budgets.
