About us
Maintain It is a full-service facility maintenance company working alongside BUILD IT, an Ontario general contractor. We keep restaurant, retail, and commercial facilities running at their best, with a focus on quick-service restaurant locations.
About the role You're the person who shows up and fixes it. About 80% of this job is hands-on repair work you do yourself. The other 20% is coordinating licensed trades when a job needs one, then making sure their work is done right before the ticket closes.
The Handyman reports directly to the Operations Manager and works closely with subcontractors/trades, on-site client contacts, and the broader Maintain It team.
What you'll do
- Patch and finish drywall to match existing texture and paint
- Repair and replace tile, flooring sections, and ceiling tiles
- Remove and replace failed caulking around fixtures, counters, washrooms, kitchens, windows, and exterior joints
- Repair small areas of concrete: cracks, chips, spalling, and trip hazards on sidewalks, curbs, and pads
- Adjust and replace door closers, hinges, and hardware; repair washroom stalls, partitions, FRP panels, and dumpster enclosure gates
- Handle minor plumbing and electrical fixes
- Assess issues on arrival and decide whether to fix directly or bring in a trade
- Schedule, supervise, and verify licensed trade work (electrical, plumbing, HVAC)
- Communicate clearly with on-site client contacts about what was done and what's next
- Document every job with reports and photos
- Track your tools, equipment, and materials, and flag supply needs early
What you bring
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in general repair, handyman, or facility maintenance work
- Your own full set of hand and power tools
- Valid driver's licence and a reliable vehicle
- Comfort working on ladders
- Availability for weekends, overnights, and late hours (we work around restaurant operating hours to avoid disrupting our clients)
- Organized, reliable, and professional with clients
- Comfortable using apps and digital tools for work orders and reporting
Pay: $28–$36/hour
