Original job description
We are seeking a skilled Integration Developer to contribute to our composable architecture application initiatives, including microservices, integration platforms, and best-of-breed application ecosystems. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the enhancement of our core capabilities and technologies involving all business segments in Bunzl Canada.
The successful candidate will report to the Director, IT.
Position Overview
The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, development, implementation, and support of integrations between internal and external business applications, systems, and platforms, including supplier, customer, and third-party services, applications, and systems.
This position requires a hands-on developer and systems thinker with strong technical skills and business systems integration experience in a multi-platform environment. It is not a role where work is handed to you as a set of technical specifications. You will be involved in every aspect of the integration lifecycle, from understanding business requirements and designing solutions to building, testing, and supporting them in production – connecting systems that range from legacy mainframes to modern eCommerce platforms. With considerable autonomy and a wide variety of challenges, this position offers a unique opportunity to grow your skills while working under the guidance and guardrails of the Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable integrations between ERP systems, business applications, cloud services, and external partner platforms using integration frameworks, standards, and best practices, adhering to corporate security policies and secure development standards.
- Extract, transform, exchange, and consume business data using various data transmission/capture methods of business information in structured and semi-structured formats.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, application owners, data teams, vendors, and customers to determine integration requirements, and design effective and robust integration solutions.
- Implement performance monitoring/alerting systems, ensuring effectiveness of integration solutions.
- Create and maintain technical documentation including specifications, system diagrams, data maps, and other related integration and development artifacts.
Your Background
- Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related discipline. (Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.)
- 4-7 years of hands-on software development and experience developing and supporting ERP, data, and third-party application integrations, preferably in a Distribution industry environment.
- A strong track-record of analysing complex business processes and translating them into technical solutions, with a strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality.
- A proven history of working independently on multiple projects, collaborating with a variety of specialized IT and business teams, and excellent communication and interpersonal skills to keep projects moving forward and on track.
Preferable Technical Skills
- Programming experience in C#, .NET, Python, SQL, and/or related programming languages.
- Ability to leverage AI to accelerate development, testing, and documentation without replacing your own technical expertise and accountability.
- Experience with REST and SOAP APIs, EDI, ODBC, and/or other data exchange systems and protocols.
- Proficiency with Azure Devops and Git version control systems.
- Experience with Databricks or other data-lake environments.
- Database design, creation, and integration, and experience using data-mapping tools.
- Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
