More about the role:

Ready to skip the typical intern coffee runs and jump straight into work that actually matters? At Burson, we don’t just “do PR” – we shape conversations, influence behaviours, protect reputations, and build campaigns that spark change across social, digital, and traditional channels – in Canada and globally. We're all about smart strategy, real impact, and an international network of thinkers, doers, and game-changers.

This is an existing opportunity to join our team as a Corporate Affairs Intern – someone curious, creative, proactive, and genuinely excited about the intersection of business, reputation and current affairs.

In this paid internship role, you’ll work alongside experienced corporate communications and advisory professionals supporting clients across a variety of industries, including financial and professional services, energy and technology. From monitoring and analysis and media relations to stakeholder engagement and thought leadership, you'll gain hands-on experience helping organizations tell their stories and build trust with their audiences.

This isn’t just an internship – it’s a launchpad into a career in corporate communications.

Annual Compensation: C$38,462, plus applicable vacation pay

What you’ll be doing (and probably have a blast doing):

Developing client-ready deliverables including media lists, pitches, stakeholder maps, meeting agendas and summaries, briefing notes, media monitoring and social listening analysis reports
Assisting with media relations in support of client announcements focusing on business, news and trade media
Conducting research on companies, industries, competitors and current affairs to support client work and new business opportunities
Bringing your big ideas to brainstorms and planning meetings
Becoming our trend and news spotter – tracking business news, industry developments, emerging issues, and online conversations, and sharing relevant insights with the team and clients

One day you might be supporting a major corporate announcement or helping position a subject-matter expert as an industry voice. The next? You’re tracking a news announcement, pitching journalists or researching an emerging reputational issue. No two days are the same – promise.

What makes you a great fit:

You’re a recent graduate in public relations, journalism, business, political science, or a related field
You thrive in fast-moving environments and juggle deadlines with ease
You have strong writing and research skills and excellent attention to detail (typos tremble in your presence)
You’re proactive, curious, and ready to take initiative
You’re curious about the world around you – business, current affairs, crisis communications, issues management, corporate reputation
You enjoy meeting new people, learning from others, and building your network
You’re interested in understanding how organizations communicate with their internal and external audiences to build and manage reputation

Why Burson Is That Internship:

Work with leading organizations across a variety of industries
Get mentorship from people who are excited to see you flourish, grow, and learn
Build a portfolio that makes future-you proud
Join a team that’s ambitious, collaborative, and genuinely fun
Gain exposure to corporate communications, reputation management, media relations, executive positioning, and integrated communications
Be part of a global network of communications experts and learn how strategic communications shape businesses and society

If you’re looking for an opportunity to do great work with great people – and make your mark in the corporate affairs and communications space – we’d love to hear from you.

You belong at Burson:

Our vision is for Burson to be the leading ‘academy company’ for creative communications professionals and emerging leaders. We provide a dynamic environment where ambitious colleagues come to elevate their skills, expand their networks, and ultimately, produce the best solutions for today’s leading brands. Our commitment to your growth is reflected in our robust benefits and people programs, which include professional development opportunities, mentorship programs with industry leaders, a vibrant and inclusive company culture fostering collaboration and innovation and packages designed to reward and retain top talent. We invest in our people because we believe their success is our success.

At Burson, we’re an agency of learn-it-alls. We recognize that the things we do best, creativity and communications, require a level of nuanced understanding. That’s why it’s imperative for us to hire extraordinarily talented people of all backgrounds and identities. Without that we can’t do the essential work of inspiring bold ideas, fostering constructive dialogue, cultivating meaningful experiences, and driving innovation and creativity for our partners. Your unique point of view - your talent - is what makes you a #BursonPerson, and it’s how we deliver exceptional results for our clients, together.

We believe the best work happens when we're together, fostering creativity, collaboration, and connection. That's why we’ve adopted a hybrid approach, with teams in the office around four days a week. If you require accommodations or flexibility, please discuss this with the hiring team during the interview process.
