Butterfield Support Services (Halifax) Limited provides centralized shared services and support to the Butterfield Group in the areas of Finance and Accounting, Human Resources, Information Technology, Operations, Client Services and Compliance. We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our Operations team. The Operations Administrator will successfully process all operational activity providing responsive, timely and accurate service. This position will report to the Team Lead, Operations.

About the Team

Butterfield’s Banking Operations team supports millions of financial transactions globally across all of our banking locations. Our customers range from personal bank account holders to corporate and wealth clients. Banking Operations is a fast-moving environment, where innovation is at the heart of the team’s everyday activities.

Your responsibilities will include:

performing day-to-day activities in Operations as they relate to verification, data input and filing (electronic and physical) duties; prioritizing and performing tasks to meet deadlines and SLAs in accordance with departmental standards, policies and procedures

preparing and processing various payment instructions (intra and interbank) for retail by working with custodians, brokers and various counter parties for correct execution

maintaining and updating static data for the Bank’s internal and external customers

preparing, tracking and submitting timely reports for periodic and ad-hoc tasks assigned

providing support to the investigations unit by researching and solving issues to ensure the timely resolution of any discrepancies

reconciling data, responding to queries and liaising with counterparties; following up with action as required, referring the most complex problems to the Team Lead, Operations

performing any other duties as directed for the Department efficiency

Your qualifications and skills include:

post-secondary degree

excellent interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational and analytical skills with a focus on providing excellent customer service

ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a deadline-driven environment

ability to adjust working hours, with minimal notice, and to work on public holidays; willingness to work flexible hours through lunch and overtime during high volume and busy periods

ability to handle transactions with large dollar amounts, high volumes and confidential information with absolute discretion

ability to adapt to and proficiently use the core banking system, Electronic Delivery Interface and SWIFT network

proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of applications
