IT Project Controller (Intermediate)
Calgary, AB, Canada
Duration :: 12 Months
Responsibilities
WHAT THIS PERSON ACTUALLY DOES
- Support the IT project-controls team as an intermediate resource who can float across assignments and work closely with senior controllers. The role is not intended to own a large portfolio independently from day one.
- Own project-controller responsibilities for an assigned IT portfolio, including budget management, forecasting, commitments, project monitoring, financial analysis, and monthly financial reporting. The person will also support routine requisitioning and purchase-order activity.
- Work closely with senior controllers, Project Managers, and Delivery Managers. The role requires enough IT/infrastructure context to understand the nuances of technology projects rather than requiring the team to explain the environment from the ground up.
- The role is specifically oriented toward IT infrastructure projects such as network upgrades and data-center projects. The strongest candidates can explain concrete project examples, the scale they supported, what they personally controlled, and the impact of their work.
- The position is a junior-to-intermediate addition to the team following a senior controller's move into the business. The intended model is to give the new controller one portfolio while using them as flexible support across the broader team.
TECHNICAL ENVIRONMENT
- SAP - the person will use SAP heavily, specifically the Project System (PS) module. SAP experience is a meaningful advantage, particularly where the candidate has used it for project controls and related project administration.
- IT infrastructure project environment - relevant examples include network upgrades, data-center projects, and comparable technology infrastructure work.
- Project controls - budgeting, forecasting, commitments, project monitoring, financial analysis, and monthly reporting. Requisition and purchase-order experience is a strong plus.
