About the Role
We are seeking a handson General Ledger Accountant to own daily accounting operations and financial reporting in SAP, act as the finance key user for SAP configuration changes supporting new business scenarios, and manage integrations between SAP and other business systems. In the initial phase, this role will also handle part of the AR/AP workload; dedicated AR/AP staff will be hired as the team grows.
Responsibilities
General Ledger & Financial Reporting (~50%)
- Own day-to-day GL operations in SAP FI: journal entries, accruals/prepayments, fixed assets, intercompany, cost allocations
- Execute month-end/year-end close: balance sheet reconciliations, flux/variance analysis
- Prepare monthly management reporting packages; support statutory reporting under ASPE/IFRS
- Support GST/HST filings, corporate tax provision data collection, and external audits
- Maintain process documentation and internal controls
SAP & Systems (~30%)
- Act as finance key user / functional SME for SAP (FI/CO) in Canada
- Gather finance requirements for new business scenarios (vehicle sales, parts, dealer network) and coordinate with HQ/global IT on configuration changes, UAT testing, and go-live support
- Define and monitor interfaces between SAP and other systems (banking/e-payments, expense management, tax engine, dealer/DMS or CRM); troubleshoot integration issues
- Maintain finance master data governance (chart of accounts, cost centers, customer/vendor records, tax codes)
Accounts Receivable / Payable (initially ~20%, transitioning out over time)
- Customer invoicing, cash application, collections, AR aging review
- Vendor invoice processing, payment runs, expense reimbursements
- Help design scalable AP/AR processes and controls ahead of future team expansion
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance
- 3–6 years progressive accounting experience with strong GL/month-end close responsibility
- Hands-on SAP FI experience
- Advanced Excel; working knowledge of ASPE/IFRS and GST/HST fundamentals
Required Skills

- CPA designation (or in final stages of CPA PEP)

- Automotive/manufacturing/distribution industry experience; start-up/new entity experience
- Mandarin an asset
