CAD Railway Industries is an ambitious Quebec-based company that has been in operation for over 60 years. We specialize in the repair, conversion, and refurbishment of rolling railway equipment (various types of wagons and locomotives) with workshops and offices in Montreal (Lachine area) and Alberta (under the Caltrax banner).

Our teams design equipment that meets the needs of both freight and passenger clients.

Job Summary:

The Material Handler will be responsible for managing inventory, parts ordering, preparing and staging of material kits for project builds, and ensuring timely distribution of materials to the workforce. This role plays a critical part in maintaining efficient production flow by ensuring the right parts and materials are available when required.

Main Responsibilities:

Ensures orderly distribution of locomotive and engine parts to mechanics by pulling required materials from inventory and coordinating with the Stores team;
Ensures orderly receipt, inspection, identification, and storage of stock/material within designated storage areas;
Maintains accurate inventory records by identifying, labeling, and organizing materials and parts, and reporting shortages;
Processes pick lists for project builds, including engine overhauls and locomotive refurbishment projects;
Prepares job kits according to work orders and project requirements;
Retrieves individual parts and materials required for specific jobs;
Documents all inventory transactions, including material receipts, issues, and transfers;
Assists with monthly and annual inventory cycle counts;
Tracks changes in storage locations and maintains accurate inventory information;
Responds to requests for replacement items and material requirements from production teams;
Ensures all documentation is properly completed and captured within work orders and company systems;
Operates forklift, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment as required;
Maintains a clean, organized, and safe work area by following good housekeeping practices;
Uses computer systems and software, including Excel, Access, and CAD Shop, to maintain records and support inventory activities;
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

Ability to read, interpret, and follow work orders, material pick lists, and related documentation;
Minimum of 2 years of warehouse, parts, or material handling experience;
Knowledge of inventory control processes and practices;
Experience using inventory management systems and computer programs;
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, and related computer applications;
Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills;
Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, and documentation;
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments;
Strong commitment to safety and the ability to follow company policies, procedures, and safe work practices;
Ability to work in challenging conditions, including heat, cold, noise, dust, odors, confined spaces, and elevated work areas;
Ability to lift materials, work at heights, and safely operate required equipment.

Résumé du poste:

Le manutentionnaire sera responsable de la gestion des stocks, de la commande des pièces, de la préparation et de l’assemblage des trousses de matériel pour les projets, ainsi que de la distribution en temps opportun du matériel aux équipes de production. Ce poste joue un rôle essentiel dans le maintien d’un flux de production efficace en veillant à ce que les bonnes pièces et les bons matériaux soient disponibles au moment opportun.

Principales responsabilités:

Assure la distribution ordonnée des pièces de locomotives et de moteurs aux mécaniciens en prélevant le matériel requis dans l’inventaire et en coordonnant les activités avec l’équipe des magasins;
Assure la réception, l’inspection, l’identification et l’entreposage adéquats des stocks et du matériel dans les zones d’entreposage désignées;
Maintien des registres d’inventaire exacts en identifiant, étiquetant et organisant les matériaux et les pièces, et en signalant toute pénurie;
Traite les listes de prélèvement (pick lists) pour les projets de production, y compris les réfections de moteurs et les projets de remise à neuf de locomotives;
Prépare les trousses de travail conformément aux bons de travail et aux exigences des projets;
Récupère les pièces et les matériaux requis pour des travaux précis;
Consigne toutes les transactions d’inventaire, y compris les réceptions, les sorties et les transferts de matériel;
Participe aux inventaires cycliques mensuels ainsi qu’aux inventaires annuels;
Effectue le suivi des changements d’emplacement d’entreposage et maintient l’exactitude des données d’inventaire;
Répond aux demandes de pièces de remplacement et aux besoins en matériel provenant des équipes de production;
Veille à ce que toute la documentation soit dûment remplie et consignée dans les bons de travail et les systèmes de l’entreprise;
Utilise un chariot élévateur, des transpalettes et tout autre équipement de manutention requis;
Maintien un environnement de travail propre, ordonné et sécuritaire en appliquant de bonnes pratiques d’entretien des lieu;
Utilise des systèmes et logiciels informatiques, notamment Excel, Access et CAD Shop, afin de tenir les dossiers à jour et de soutenir les activités de gestion des stocks;
Exécute toute autre tâche connexe qui lui est confiée.

Qualifications requises:

Capacité à lire, interpréter et suivre les bons de travail, les listes de prélèvement de matériel et toute documentation connexe;
Minimum de 2 années d’expérience en entrepôt, en gestion de pièces ou en manutention de matériel;
Connaissance des processus et des pratiques de gestion des stocks;
Expérience dans l’utilisation de systèmes de gestion des stocks et de logiciels informatiques;
Maîtrise de Microsoft Excel, Access et d’applications informatiques connexes;
Excellent souci du détail et fortes aptitudes organisationnelles;
Capacité à tenir à jour des dossiers, registres et documents avec exactitude;
Capacité à communiquer clairement et efficacement avec les membres de l’équipe, les superviseurs et les autres services;
Engagement marqué envers la santé et la sécurité au travail et capacité à respecter les politiques, procédures et pratiques de travail sécuritaires de l’entreprise;
