Original job description

ABOUT US

Caddie Intelligence builds software for analytical testing laboratories and other regulated industries.

WHAT WE'RE BUILDING

Something meaningful, in an industry that quietly touches billions of lives and almost nobody thinks about. The work inside it is slow, manual and consequential and the decisions being made every day deserve to be faster, more consistent, and easier to stand behind.

THE ROLE: YOU WILL BUILD IT END TO END

You own everything a scientist sees and touches, and it has to work the same in our cloud and offline inside a customer's own network.

The review surface: TypeScript, React, SVG and Canvas over tens of thousands of data points

Interaction: pointer events, drag, requestAnimationFrame, state that never disagrees with what is drawn

Binary data in the browser: ArrayBuffer, DataView, typed arrays, Web Workers

Client-side exports: ZIP, XLSX and PNG generated in the browser, byte-exact

The platform screens: configuration, review queues, audit trail, admin

The plumbing: Vite, component and end-to-end tests in Playwright, CI that blocks regressions

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

Strong TypeScript and React, and an eye for how something should look and feel

You design for people who are not software natives: clear labels, big targets, and keyboard shortcuts for the experts

You have built a data-heavy interface that stays fast, not a CRUD app with a chart library dropped in

Rendering performance as a skill: SVG, Canvas, and knowing when the browser is lying to you

Enough backend ability to ship an endpoint yourself: Python, Postgres, an AWS service or two. Nobody is handing you a finished API

You use AI tooling hard, and you are ruthless about reviewing what it writes (Cursor, Claude Code, Codex, etc.)

NICE TO HAVE

Scientific or financial charting

Apps that run offline or inside locked-down corporate networks

Regulated software: audit trails, electronic signatures

WHO YOU ARE

Critical thinker who pushes back ·
proactive, nobody is going to hand you a ticket
wants ownership of the schema, the screen and the alarm that wakes you up
fast without being sloppy
ability to handle adversity
SOMEONE WHO WANTS TO BE GREAT

NOT REQUIRED

A specific number of years. We care whether you can do the work, not how long you have been doing it

Any degree or higher education

A design background. You are not here to make things pretty, but you should mind when they are not

WORKING HERE

A direct line to the founders. No waiting a week for a decision

You see the whole company, not a slice of it: commercial, technical and strategic

Access to the network behind us: investors, operators and advisors who have built and sold companies in this space

You grow as the company grows, and you will be able to point at the parts that are yours

Caddie is backed by ERA, the New York accelerator.

More about this job

Responsibilities

Build and own the end-to-end user experience for a regulated laboratory software platform, including high-performance data review interfaces, configuration screens, review queues, audit trails, and administration tools. Develop browser-based data processing and exports, contribute backend endpoints, and maintain tests and CI to prevent regressions across cloud and offline deployments.

Requirements

Requires strong TypeScript and React skills, experience building fast data-heavy interfaces, and expertise in browser rendering with SVG and Canvas. Candidates should design accessible, clear interfaces for non-technical users, be able to build backend endpoints using technologies such as Python, PostgreSQL, or AWS, and critically review AI-generated code; scientific or financial charting, offline applications, and regulated software experience are advantageous.
