Original job description
About us:
Calder is solving the data bottleneck for embodied AI and world models. Today's AI models lack the real-world, 4D data needed to reason on spatial problems and operate in physical environments. We capture, process, and deliver high-fidelity human-generated spatial data at scale, providing the substrate that trains the next generation of generalizable models for manipulation, navigation, and interaction.
About the role:
The Task Platform connects people worldwide with opportunities to collect and contribute data for Physical AI. Demand across a wide range of customers and use-cases are mapped in real-time to a globally distributed supply leveraging heterogeneous sensor sets and collection modalities.
Physical AI is the largest economic opportunity since the industrial revolution and we aim to provide an economic opportunity for anyone, anywhere, while helping autonomous vehicles, manufacturing robots, and humanoids learn to operate in the real world.
Drive the design and implementation of our core crowdsourcing platform and systems
Partner across product, operations, and AI functions to fluidly identify and solve problems in a high-growth environment
Plan technical roadmaps and contribute to higher level technical strategy
About you:
Deep experience building critical backend software supporting >= 1000s of users
Distributed systems expertise in data platforms or horizontally scaled databases
Experience architecting and building workflow orchestration systems
Strong analytical skills in a relevant field like ML, math, statistics, quantitative economics, etc.
Proficient programming skills in python, node.js, and/or rust.
Nice to have experience:
Scaling and refactoring production systems for order of magnitude growth; hypergrowth startups a plus
Building marketplaces, contributor platforms, or globally-deployed products
IoT architectures or supporting remote sensors or edge-deployed custom hardware
Diverse ETL systems and a rich understanding of related tradeoffs
Keen attention to reliability and consistency
