As a Human Resources (HR) Analyst for the Calgary Police Service (CPS) you will work with the HR Services Section assisting, coordinating, and leading HR initiatives and projects relating to strategic HR issues. Primary duties include:

Provide client consultation to address HR service delivery needs including organizational effectiveness, talent acquisition, labour relations through the interpretation and application of policies, programs, and collective agreements.
Provide coaching for leaders and employees related to career development dialogues, performance review discussions, employee engagement strategies, workplace conflict, and respectful workplace issues.
Identify HR issues through analysis and identification of relevant policies, collective agreements, and legislation and recommend courses of action.
Research best practices to create tools and resources for HR initiatives such as performance management, change management and diversity and inclusion.
Develop HR plans and programs that will support the achievement of business objectives.
Assist HR Business Partners to coordinate the documentation of HR processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's), ensuring that documentation is following HR policies and collective agreements.

Qualifications

A degree in Human Resources, Commerce/Business, Social Sciences, or related field and a minimum of 2 - 4 years of related HR experience.
Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
A Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation would be considered an asset.
Experience using PeopleSoft Human Capital Management (HCM) or equivalent Human Resources Information System will be considered an asset.
Preference will be given to applicants with knowledge and experience of Labour Relations and interpreting collective agreements.
Experience working in a unionized environment, public sector, and/or law enforcement/paramilitary environment will be considered an asset.

Pre-employment Requirements

An enhanced security clearance will be conducted.
Successful applicants must provide proof of qualifications. Education obtained from out of country must have or be able to obtain, an Education Credential Assessment (ECA) for confirmation of equivalent credentials.

Position and Pay Information

Business Unit: Calgary Police Services

Union: Exempt

Position Type: 2 Temporary (up to 12 months)

Compensation: P2 $91,229 - 114,036 per annum

Hours of work: Standard 35 hour work week.

Days of work: This position works a 5 day work week with 1 day off in a 3 week cycle.

Location: 5111 - 47 Street N.E.
