With our growing team of 45+ lawyers we represent individuals, entrepreneurs, businesses, and institutions in a broad range of disputes and are committed to delivering exceptional client service while fostering a collaborative, high-performance workplace.

Joining Cambridge LLP means becoming part of a close-knit team where your work will make a meaningful impact from day one and where there are opportunities to learn, grow, and take on increasing responsibility.

The Opportunity

Cambridge LLP is seeking a versatile, organized, and dependable Legal Assistant to join our Toronto office, located in the vibrant Entertainment District in a 1925 brick and beam loft.

This is a full-time, permanent position supporting partners and litigation associates. The role combines legal administrative support, general office assistance, client service, and support for firm events and special projects.

The successful candidate will be comfortable handling both routine administrative tasks and more advanced assignments depending on their experience, abilities, and the needs of the firm. This is best suited to someone who genuinely enjoys a varied support role and is willing to help wherever needed.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative support to multiple lawyers.
  • Prepare, proofread, format, scan, save, and organize correspondence and documents.
  • Manage emails, calendars, appointments, meeting invitations, and other scheduling requests.
  • Assist with docket entry, expense submissions, billing administration, and other routine practice-management tasks.
  • Maintain electronic and physical files and ensure documents are properly organized.
  • Communicate professionally with clients, lawyers, courts, service providers, and other contacts.
  • Arrange couriers, deliveries, printing, copying, binding, and document packages.
  • Assist with the preparation of routine letters, forms, and non-legal correspondence.
  • Provide reception, telephone, meeting-room, and general office support when required.
  • Assist with firm wine-and-cheese receptions, seminars, and other events, including guest lists, name badges, materials, setup, and teardown.
  • Support special projects and assist with other administrative or legal-support tasks according to experience and operational needs.
  • Where appropriate, assist with more advanced document preparation or litigation-support work under the supervision of a lawyer.
  • Knowledge of online court filing system is strongly preferred.
  • Experience using Case Center is preferred.

Qualifications

•At least 2 years of experience as a legal assistant at a law firm.

  • Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to manage changing priorities and support several people.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Comfortable performing a mix of routine office duties and higher-level support work.
  • Reliable, cooperative, discreet, and willing to contribute as part of a team.
  • Experience with legal billing, docketing, or practice-management software is an asset but not required.

Why Join Cambridge LLP?

Cambridge LLP offers a competitive salary and benefits package. You will join a growing firm where people are not confined by rigid hierarchies or narrow job descriptions.

This role offers variety, exposure to different lawyers and files, and the opportunity to take on greater responsibility over time. It also requires a practical, team-oriented approach and a willingness to assist with the everyday work that keeps a busy office running smoothly.

Additional Information

  • This is an ongoing legal support and office administration role. It is not a suitable placement for candidates seeking qualification as lawyers in Ontario.
  • Full-time, permanent, in-office position.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work full-time in Canada
  • Salary commensurate with experience, up to $60,000 per year.
  • Only applicants selected for an interview will be contacted.
